    Toilet trouble

Hi all, The toilet cistern in the photo continues to drain after flushing. Water flowing in just flows straight out of the bottom. If I push down on the blue plunger in the middle of the white housing in the centre of the photo it stops emptying and fills normally until the next time you flush...

How to dry this flood soaked wall?

Hi all, We had a flood of water through the house caused by a blocked valley gutter. After 4 weeks the wall in the photo is still quite damp, smelly and has mould growing on it. What's the best way to get it to dry out? I know heat and a dehumidifier are probably the way to go but we'd like to...

They seem pretty secure. I need pliers to pull them off. I'll be taping them up properly soon. Thanks again :-)

It was quite melted and distorted. At best it'd be difficult to get the new connectors to fit in so they were in line enough to mate up with the heater connectors. That's if they'd even fi in at all.

Yes, those are the ones I bought. Trouble with those is that the spade connectors on the heater are too close together for there to be room for the insulating covers to fit. I had to cut off the covers to get the connectors to fit on otherwise there was no way they were going to fit. I can wrap...

Er, I just crimped new connectors onto the ends of the wires and pushed them onto the connections on the heater, without using a plug. I made sure the connectors are nowhere near touching. Safer with a proper plug I know but seems to be ok for now. Will see about running some dishwasher...

Heater fitted, connectors replaced, new clips fitted and have run a full wash program with no leaks or cutting out. All seems to be well again. Many thanks Yardie. Your help and advice have been much appreciated :-)

The wattage on the playe on the side of the door says 1900kw but the Zanussi heater is 2kw. Will this be too much?

No, no RCDs here. Just old fashioned fuses. It was definitely the fuse in the mains plug that was blowing.

Yes, I asked the same earlier this morning. He'll be wondering what's with all the questions :-) I'll get another look at the washer later today and get the sizes off the heater. Cheers :-)

Ha ha, ok, I was looking for Smeg ones. I just bid £10 for the Zanussi one. Not sure if it's the same port sizes but the rest of it looks the same, connections, copper bars etc to will hopefully fit. Will check the numbers on the side for wattage etc before fitting. Many thanks again for...

Ok, that seems sensible. Thanks very much for all your help here. I had a look on Ebay but can't see anything ending this evening. I saw several of these...

Smeg DF612SDX Dishwasher blows main fuse

The dishwasher runs for longer without the heater being connected, to the point where it realises the water's not being heated and switches itself into error mode. I cancelled that and started it running again and got the same result. I can't see anything going on to indicate whether the...

Same as when I connected to the connectors inside the black plug. THe reading remains at 1 and doesn't change.

00.3 1. This is the reading shown before connecting the meter. When connected to the connectors inside the black plug that was removed from the heater the reading on the meter doesn't change so I'm not sure whether I'm getting a proper reading here or not.. 30 I got the same...

Yes, there's little if any clean metal that I can see and the position of the terminals will make them hard to clean up. Will try the copper bars if needs be.

Ok, will do. Do I need to test on both the terminals in the melted plug as well as the earth? Do I connect both tester leads to both terminals in the melted plug at the same time and take that reading? Feeling a bit confused here and hampered by a lack of basic electrical knowledge so if you...
