    House Wiring

I wish my MCBs forgave all those pesky overcurrent faults and let them get on with the task of burning down my house! RCD for remote garden lighting. Did not know that! Are you some sort of property Columbo? "Err One more thing Sir, did you install the old core colours to circumvent...

    Cutting Suspended Ceiling Supports

http://www.alibaba.com/photo/50096824/Chainsaw.jpg As you can probably tell, i'm not a big fan myself! I hate that dust that gets in your face too. My dad always says that rice cakes are like eating suspended ceiling tiles. FFS, i keep mentioning my dad, you lot must think i'm twelve...

installing fridge and washer to plug point?

The things on the wall under the worktop are not likely to be "sockets", but flex outlet plates as stated. Like Chivers said, this means cutting plugs off and hard-wiring. Photos would confirm this!

Wiring an outbuilding from the domestic CU

Your first problem is having the freezer on an RCD protected circuit in a damp environment. Once that baby trips without you knowing, its goodbye £100 worth of fish fingers and lollies! (unless you claim for it when it becomes £500! Surprising what's in a freezer as far as insurance companies...

installing fridge and washer to plug point?

They sound like flex outlet plates, and if so, should be isolated and protected by separate switches and fuses above the worktop. Somebody on here advocated the use of 15amp (not normal 13amp) sockets for this scenario, and I have to say I like the idea. If the supplies are protected and...

    Audio/Visual Wiring

This is interesting. Don't rate Click usually, but this new product of theirs appears to a) be a bit sexy and forward thinking and b) at least give a nod in the direction of Sky+! http://www.scolmore.com/assets/pdf/New_Media_Brochure.pdf It suggests one LNB feed to DB amp, the other direct...

Outdoor "floor" lights in Flagged patio

Genius plan = problem solved. To be fair, I think this a suggestion rather than a guess. I would agree that the only real benefit to using anything else would be the foot-warming properties of a floormounted GU10! If accent is all you require, LED is the way to go. All sounds a bit...

Power socket in middle of a room

The home made power pole is genius! I love that idea! Have you ever done this or did you just dream it up! Goes well with my old man's strut addiction too! Assuming you use the shallow strut, will there be enough depth to get the trunking back box in?

    Bathroom Quandry

I think you need to carefully consider the advice you give on here, especially if you are a qualified electrician. Thats the third time i've seen you respond along the "it'll probably be alright" line and I can't see the point. People ask on here for advice to do things safely. If they weren't...

Here, Here! Not only that, but this is an "Electrics" Forum. There are a million and one AV forums out there, and I guarantee there are more than odd posts on this topic. I recommend a spot of googling! Failing that, Mystic Meg is the only one who can give you future-proofing predictions...

    lcd tv

In simple terms, all you really need is one video feed and power in my opinion. The video feed of choice would be component right now, but HDMI if your LCD (or next TV purchase) supports it. The idea is that if you use a surround amp with video switching, you send all your sources to the amp...

Power sockets in bedroom with shower

I am starting to think this might be a LABCO (cool acronym!) trying to goad us all into agreeing. "Yeah, we do loads of notifiable work on the sly all the time" "Oh really? would you like to come to my trap.......I mean house, and do some work for me?

    Diversity?

Never thought about that one, but so very true. My mum got the hang of it after many years of nagging by my dad (strange role reversal there). "It doesn't heat quicker, just for longer, until the "nuclear fission" setting you have selected is reached" Watchers of Family Guy might remember...

    Diversity?

Technically, it should do very little! Apart from the heat generated by the pump/compressor it will just act like a heat pump from the front to the back and being in the same room, this should balance out surely! On an aside, why is it that (chauvanistically speaking), when it's hot, women...
