Sounds, wrong to say the least! Replacing a plug doesn't need any Part P certification, regarding the old plug, remove the fuse from it, then if anyone did happen to plug it in, it wouldn't be live.

this may sound like a stupid question, but when you say the amp isn't working, is there any signs of life on the unit at all? any LEDs come on etc?
