    Soundproofing semi: Opinions?

Its standard practice on Charles Church sites on apartments, albeit just 1 board thick dot and dab. Soundcoat is excellent, if the noise is as bad as you describe then double board it, it will work. To be sure you could even use acoustic boards, which are slightly thicker. If there is no...

    Soundproofing semi: Opinions?

Hack off plaster/render. Render with soundcoat, double dot and dab with plasterboard, bonding the boards. Sorted. All you have lost off the room is about 30/40 mm

    What van do you use?

04 Renault traffic here from new. Only thing so far to go wrong was the immobiliser ring circuit or something, which was done under warranty. Warranty now expired, and I have heard the earlier ones are prone to fuel pumps packing in, £1200 to replace

    pointing using mortar gun

I have used mortar guns quite a few times, especially on timber frame apartments, on gables where the roofs drop down to a lower roof. As bricks cant be laid there "sticky bricks" are put there. These are basically slithers of bricks about 30mm thick, stuck on with adhesive on to a metal sheet...

Try finding a building site using a similar yellow colour mortar. I'm sure the brickies would let you have a bucket or 2 no problem

    Main electric cables

Hi folks. Suppliers cables coming from the pole across the road to my fascia, mine and on to next doors. 2 thick armoured cables not very nicely clipped on. I want to change my fascias and the weight of the cables is not doing them any favours. Can I demand they be re routed, I accept my...

    Brickies Mate/labourer Job description

I am a bricky. If I find a good labourer that doesn't need to ask for anything and does the above said, then I would give a 60/40 split on price. Good incentive as the labourer then is not just on a flat rate, we work as a team, and the more we lay..... Every time the trowel is of of my hand...

    Which Van?

Hi Fred, I have a Renault Traffic van which is the same shape as the Vauxhall Wood You Like has. Great vans, easy to drive and most important, you were concerned about rotting Transits, they are galvanised. I dont know if the Vauxhall is though. I have had mine since new on a 04 and no probs. single skin blockwork bungalow..advice please

    8) Well if its that bad, I definitely would. Will a lender let you have a mortgage on something that bad? Unless of course your using pound notes to buy Well I agree with your concerns regarding extra weight onto the roof space, and only a structural engineer would give you that answer...

    single skin blockwork bungalow..advice please

You describe a timber framed building. I would be very surprised if there is no insulation in the timber frame. How do you know there is none? Do you know how old it is? If there inst then yes I would be concerned of thermal loss. It can be put in but would mean taking off the plasterboards and...
