Conservatory floor height and what do with door sills advice

Cut the external cill off, or sometimes they "pop" off the runner clips. This should just leave the bottom of the door, which will be internal floor height. Build your height of damp course for the conservatory to this height, lay concrete in with dpm and insulation, tile on top up to the...

    cavity wall - rubble?

lol noseall, I do get a couple of "birds eyes" when laying damp concretes, they wear out the skin, and I cant wear gloves, not the same "feel" when laying bricks. Might I add, that the above numbers are by no means every day, it depends on the runs you get, it just so happened we were on a gable...

    Small Retaining Wall for Garden

Dig down 600mm below your lowest ground level, as for width of foundation, dig 300mm wider than what your wall will beat the bottom, ie one brick thick wall, is 225mm, 225 + 300 = 525mm, this leaves 150mm of concrete either side of wall. Lay 150mm thick concrete foundation. Might be worth...

Rising damp does not exist (continued; not a sequel)

I remember many moons ago studying my advanced craft city & guilds bricklaying, the subject of rising damp, and yes it was common practice before man made dpc's to use 2 courses of class A engineering brick as a damp course. I also remember why rising damp was explained. Normally water will only...

    Corner profiles

Blakes are the best profiles, but awful expensive if they are not being used much. Only worth buying for pricework, better off learning how to build nice corners first. Alternatives would be a nice straight bit of 4x2, or the box steel they use to fix cable channels above ceilings in factory...
