What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

Daily > 27 year old BMW saloon, probably the best car I've ever owned. Occasional > 38 year old Range Rover classic V8. As you can see I'm not a fan of modern junk & I'll not be drawn into endless discussions about saving the f..... planet. I've answered the original post .. I'm done (y)

    Funerals

A personal choice that should be respected of course, but such a decision can have a traumatic effect on any children already upset at their parent's passing.

    Funerals

One thing I have noticed is the increase of adverts for funeral services on the TV. Given that death is as inevitable as taxation they are guaranteed our custom eventually, so do they know something we don't

    Funerals

Many thanks for all your replies folks .. provides me with food for thought. I need to either do a pre-plan (though the opinions here are giving me doubts about taking that option) or deposit enough savings in an A/C to cover today's funeral cost in the hope that interest earned will cover...

    Funerals

Hi folks, anyone got an opinion, or maybe experience, when it comes to planning for funeral costs? Pre-payment plan either with Golden Charter etc. or with a funeral director, as opposed to a dedicated savings A/C for that eventual cost. Not something any of us likes to think about, but when...

    Self-driving Cars

Not sure if this question has been asked but, in this age of rampant litigation, who is held responsible if it all goes tits-up? 1) the individual in charge of the vehicle 2) the vehicle manufacturer 3) the component(s) supplier 4) any of the above who has the least competent legal team

    Self-driving Cars

Since retirement 20 years ago I actually enjoy driving either of my two classic cars, as journeys are usually at my choice rather than being obligatory (I drove for a living for 3 decades) & I still take pride in being a safe driver, as my record will attest. The idea of a driver-less car is...

    Pavement parking.

I often wonder how many car owners that park on the road, because their garages are full of household junk, tell their insurers that the car is garaged overnight.

    Pavement parking.

Sounds like what is needed is a few delivery truck drivers with poor ability to judge the width of their vehicle. A few broken mirrors might encourage the selfish/lazy to park responsibly.

    Pavement parking.

Interestingly I was 'pulled' on bank holiday Monday evening (first time in decades & by an un-marked car) on suspicion of being un-insured. The WPC was very polite & accepted my explanation that the car's insurance had been renewed 48hrs. before but perhaps not yet showing on MID. In fact it...

    Transit breakdown - any ideas?

Quote from an old farmer > 'I've had this old Land Rover for 20 years & never topped-up the oil .. how come the damn thing has seized up now?'

    Transit breakdown - any ideas?

I'm tempted to ask .. how many miles since you last checked the oil level, prior to this incident? Unless you have a fairly serious leak it will take a lot of mileage before the oil level is low enough to illuminate the light & by the time it does ..

    Non turbo new car

I know how she feels ! Some drivers (I use the term loosely) will benefit from the day that driverless cars become the norm

    Engine oil

It's all about marketing, kid perspective buyers (that don't know any better) that their new toy has long service intervals ;)

    Engine oil

Engine oil, ready mixed coolant/AF & a compact jump starter pack in my case, plus of course breakdown/recovery membership.

    Engine oil

Next oil change certainly though not top-ups in my case, as despite covering 173k my 27 year old BM doesn't use any oil between annual 5k services.

    Engine oil

My BM takes 6.5L including the filter, fortunately my supplier markets a 7L pack. You're quite right, the cost of a single litre is way out of proportion to a 5L.
