    Will writing

Can I ask for folks experiences of having their last will & testament written by services other than by a solicitor? I feel the need to change/update my will & recall the last time this was done many years ago it was a very expensive exercise, so Lord alone knows what a solicitor will charge...

    Garden shredder

Many thanks for the rapid reply, but not the same machine .. the AXT1600HP uses a helix/spiral cutter which makes for a very quiet machine when in use. Strange as many spares for this model are still available, but not the cutter.

    Garden shredder

I've an old model Bosch garden shredder (mod. AXT 1600HP) that is still in good working order but the spiral cutter needs replacing. Every spares outlet I've browsed on the 'net states that the part is no longer available, so is it possible to re-sharpen it or maybe fit an alternative part? I...

    Front dash cam dangling again.

I have a Nextbase dash-cam in both my cars using sucker type fittings. On the rare occasion the camera's weight overcomes the suction base I simply slide the camera off the mount, clean the 'screen then dampen the sucker rubber before re-sticking. I don't know if it's got any bearing on the...

    Stats.

Your research is much appreciated, it appears there is more than one HML site of the same name & obviously not the one I have used. Regardless of whether dealers chose to use the term auto or just A official stats are just that, so how can two sites purporting to use them be so far apart with...

    Stats.

I take your point regarding the vehicle's original input, for example I have a 1987 Range Rover which would have been built by Land Rover Ltd. but the car is registered as a Rover, the company that built the RR's prior to LR becoming a stand-alone company within BL in 1978. In the case of my...

    Stats.

An odd question maybe, but any opinions as the the accuracy of the web site 'how many left' ? I browsed my late 'nineties BMW model on the site & the numbers for both licenced & sorned were zero up to the last quarter of 2024, which is interesting as I've had mine for over 5 years always...

    Trailer wheel bearings - why?

That's good to know, better proactive than reactive.

    Trailer wheel bearings - why?

On the overloading theme .. there are 750kg trailers manufactured that run dual axles, excellent for towing stability but what are the chances of the gross weight being adhered to as the extra weight of the trailer often means a payload of less than 500kg.

    Petrolheads

Depends on what a perspective buyer regards as a classic. I browse the ads. extensively (sad or what?) & can find plenty of candidates that would suit me for well under that price, but of course if you are seeking something that is 'trending' ie a fast Ford you will have to shell out. It also...

    Audio query

Hi folks I'm usually posting on the motoring section, but just a quickie question about TV's Can any one tell me what the facility for voice-over info. presumably for the benefit of blind viewers, is called. Out Samsung has decided to activate it & not knowing what the facility is called I...

    Car Lights - dim

I have precisely the same problem with my 26 year old BMW & like you use the fogs as well as dipped beams, though there is no suggestion of any other problems with the light units. I've got some uprated H4B bulbs on order & my local garage will be tasked with fitting the damn things as I have...

    Antipollution fault ?

Had a few things on the bonnet in my younger days, but never a stag .. don't know what you're imagining, but I'm talking about spare wheels on Land Rovers & such like ;) Sorry, off topic!

    Antipollution fault ?

Very informative & greatly appreciated. My current dip beams, bearing in mind the bulbs are probably old, lack efficiency to the point where the use of the fog-lights in conjunction with the dips is desirable on unlit roads. Full beams on the other hand are pretty good, great on country lanes...

    Antipollution fault ?

Many thanks for the advice, in the case of Halfords their product statement reads 'HB4 9006 100% increase in light output' listed as suitable for my car (early '98 523i) but I can't see the wattage on the box .. originals are 55W.

    Antipollution fault ?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does your advice extend to any uprated bulbs, inc. those from outlets such as Halfords? My old 5 series has pretty poor dip beams, typical of 'nineties cars. I was planning to go for the lower of 3 alternative products, listed as + 100% (there are +150 & 200) as I...

    Petrolheads

Of course it's bad, but then so are a great many things that plebs like us have little or no control over. If the powers-to-be want you to have it they promote the issue or product, if they want to dissuade you then it's bad.

    Petrolheads

All these reports will be contradicted at a later date by someone needing to justify their pay-check. Personally I look for something more interesting or informative to read
