    appropriate anchor bolts/fixings?

hollow bricks are stonger than you think we reguarly use them to install fall arrest anchors !!! resin fixings are the answer. drill the hole, blow the dust out, fill the cavity with epoxy resin, insert a stud. once its dry, you can hang off it !!!!

Brand new garden from scratch, fake grass, patio, path.....

several questions, so i'll number them 1. Weed killer. ive lifted the old slabs from a 34m5 area at the front of my house. the weeds were running rife under the slabs. i'd like to kill them. my brain tells me to buy a 25kg bag of sodium chlorate, bit i don't want to look like a...

after posting that, i went to have another look. ( had a few beers, so didn't strip it. and some XXXX stole my fluke !) Thanks for your input rocks. I removed the output plug, nothing nasty in there, but its unlike my old machine in that there is no filter as such for large items ( my...

Hotpoint WML540 -service manual and advice please

Hi guys - Anyone got a link for a hotpoint WML540. Had issues over the past few weeks, firstly clothes that didn't smell right. I could only put it down to the wife constantly running low temp, and a build up of gunk. boil washed a box of washing machine cleaner, smell gone. Did a wool...

fitting a bath, woodwork or not...

after some thinking, i've decided to have the tiling done without the bath in place. Reasons: the bath panel can't be trimmed to size, so the bath needs to be at the right height, +/- 2mm. in order to shim the bath to the right height, i'll need to make up blocks for it to sit on, equal...

fitting a bath, woodwork or not...

hmm, when you day don't, do you mean don't because its not needed, or don't because it causes a problem ??? it'd be nice to KNOW its not going anywhere, but then again, if its not needed.......

fitting a bath, woodwork or not...

i'm not doing the tiling - its the one thing i'm happy to pay for. i had just presumed that tiling the wall first would be better.....hence why i'm not a tiler. or indeed tiling with the bath removed, and simply tiling up to the woodwork i'll be putting in ??? so then, best to fit the...

fitting a bath, woodwork or not...

Nice one. best to fix it directly to the plasterboard, then let the tiler tile up to it, or fix it to the tiles ( through the tiles ) afterwards ???? its a whirlpool bath. I need to have a look and see if the bath comes with a slight tilt built in ( i mean the lip of the bath is level...

fitting a bath, woodwork or not...

quickie here guys - fitting a new p-shaped bath, tiles not done yet. Floor is easy, as its cast concrete, so thats sorted. every bath i have ever removed has had some form of wood work round the wall....my bath sits in an alcove avout 1780mm wide, so i have 3cm at each side as a gap. i'll...

    panasonic surround sound

my monolith is just a tool, which is used to make ripples in the upstairs toilet. It does a very good job of it too. As chapeau mentions - subwoofers of that grade go down to the 20 Hz level, and thats the area where you FEEL things, rather than hear them. My dog loves it.

    panasonic surround sound

Having a subwoofer close to the source causes more harm than good. With the SPL causing the Cones on the main drivers to over extend, Either via pressurisation of the port, or via direct direct pressure on the cone. In order to set the system up PROPERLY, then the subwoofer HAS to be moved...

    panasonic surround sound

i did consider a post about the basics - but decided against it. someone who mistakes 2 4 inch drivers, and a silk cone tweeter for a subwoofer shouldn't be playing with AV. ever. anyway, for those that are interested, here's the rest of the setup. Rears, also Tannoy F4 customs in...

    panasonic surround sound

yeah, its a centre speaker, its where most of the dialouge comes from. Its raised for 3 reasons, firstly its easy to put it there, secondly, it looks better, and third, it SOUNDS better, due to less reflected sound from the solid wood flooring. And yes, there is a subwoofer, out of...

    overcoming bad paramount walls

the other side of the bathroom forms my stairwell. Its not in the budget to have that done - so its dab+dot over the old stuff i'm afraid. and all the walls are like that in my house - so its always been, and always will be a problem. My nick name is wozza too - warren ?

cutting a hole in my cast concrete wall...REBAR ?

hi guys. As for worrying about pre-stressed etc...There are 249 houses round me exactly the same. i'd say 60 percent of them have a flue drilled in the outside facing wall....... I HAVE cut the hole - managed to speak to someone who has done it in the same place, and after lots of...
