    Masonry paint - smooth/textured? retail/trade?

So has anyone used the johnstones self cleaning paint? It's a lot of money to spend if it's no cop. Based on my experience with johnstone emulsion I can well believe the comment anbout stormshield needing 4 coats! As for Wicks - got to be honest and say I'm very suspicious of store brand...

    Masonry paint - smooth/textured? retail/trade?

Thanks dcdec I've used Johnstones emulsion indoors before and I'd kind of decided never to use Johnstones paint again - the coverage just seemed really poor. Is Johnstones masonry paint better than their emulsion in your view? Obviously this self cleaning stuff is quite a bit more...

    Masonry paint - smooth/textured? retail/trade?

Ours is a large Victorian house with a smooth concrete render. We're having the roof redone and while the scaffolding is up I plan to repaint the house even though it was only last done 6 years ago. One side of the house is next to the road and gets quite dirty - so I'm thinking textured...

    replacement extractor

looking to do a straight swap although the old fan didn't have an over-run and this one does. Simple system - fan is separate from the lights so just switches on and off with it's own switch. The instructions are a little confusing. I'm connecting live to live, nuetral to nuetral and then...

Ok I can see the attractiveness of the basin mate. Too late now. Anyway thanks to seco services it all seems to be done ok now. It was pretty simple in the end.

    Anotherpop up waste installation question

Oh and another question occurs - do i seal it, let it go off and then fit the lower part with washer etc or do it all in one go - I'm just thinking that doing it in two stages means you lose the ability to adjust tyhe positioning of the top part to make the pop up assembly go in the right place.

    Anotherpop up waste installation question

Ok i'll be onto that tomorrow. I'd just assumed that a combination of ptf on the thread and the tightness of the connection with the washer would be enough. I'm using some Dow Corning sanitary ware sealant that i picked up from the builders merchant. If I use a decent chunk of it (like i have...

    Anotherpop up waste installation question

Thanks seco - maybe this is where i'm going wrong - I'm using silicone on the washer but not sealing the (considerably wide) gap between the basin and and the thread

    Anotherpop up waste installation question

I bought an ex display vanity unit/basin/taps/popup waste at the builders merchant and it didn't have a washer for under the basin. So i bought from them a plastic washer, fitted the whole thing and it leaked. Went on t'internet and numerous people say discard the washers and use silicone. The...

    Dishwasher not hot

Our diswahser - Bosch sgs8812/gb runs through the whole cycle ok, but doesn't get things properly clean. It's not that the water stays cold, it just gets warm. I've taken the whole thing to bits and tested the heater which, from what i understand seems ok (testing with a digital multimeter it...

Whats the technique to fit internal upvc beading?

Just to add a note for anyone who finds this thread in the future. Beading installed succesfully. I used a wooden mallet and placed it against the window before striking a block up against the beading. ie striking at 90 degrees to the glass. I did have to strike the beading VERY hard. The...

Whats the technique to fit internal upvc beading?

Hope it's okay to bump this rather than start a new thread. I've got the same problem. It's a new small window - 2' wide by 4' high and I'm bashing the beading as hard as I dare with a pretty hefty mallet, but it's not going home. Hit it any harder and i'm worried that a little lack of...
