Yeah makes sense. I guess one easy test method would be to whack it in chimney sweep mode… that goes straight to 100% right? And assume it doesn’t override the pump speed settings… be interesting to see the difference regarding the heat of the rads and whether it still trips at target flow etc.

About 20mins I’d say. Starts at 20%… It’s gradual and incremental over that period all the way up to 100%. I am running 30kw of rads mind you so in my inexperienced mind… 25 mins to get to target temp felt about right. I’ve just never understood why it can’t just reach 100% much quicker…Bosch...

I see, so even if the burner goes out, setting 1 on the pump settings wouldn’t then stop the pump as the boiler knows there’s still demand for heat? Despite the burner being out? Will setting the max flow temp as above prevent it exceeding the target flow temp?

I did limit the boiler output to 90% for a while but it still did this. Is there another way I can stop it from happening? I.e i can see on the boiler settings I can set both; the flow target temp, AND there's a separate option for setting MAX flow temp. (currently set to 80). If I set that to...

Now that makes me wonder if this is related. I’ve noticed this boiler gets to target flow of 70c in about 25 mins. But when it gets there, the burner goes out for about 1minute during which time the flow temp rapidly goes down to maybe 50 or so. Then the burner comes back on at a much reduced...

Oh I see, by primaries if you mean the main flow and returns directly from / to the boiler. They’re 28mm for the first 2 meters, then split into 2 parallel runs of 22mm (front of house run) and (Rear of house run) then down to 15mm for the last meter or so to each rad.

So I understand the difference correct then, with a min and max at default…. It would modulate somewhere in that range relative to…. The output % of the burner? … essentially the harder the boiler is working, so too would the pump? Or nah?

Yeah, so the difference between those two bits is where im hazy. What's the benefit on going setting 0 on this one? and under what circumstances is it preferable to use that? vs a constant pressure of the other settings?

Sure but that’s what was behind my question above about re balancing If we try setting 4 and it’s still not much better. Do we try setting 5? Or try balancing again at setting 4?

Thanks John. That’s really helpful. Probably a silly question - but do you need to re-balance once the pump rate is increased? I should’ve probably also mentioned all the 15 rads are type 22 double panel double convector. Mostly large, some medium, no small.
