    EICR - C2 - circuits 1 and 2 low insulation resistance reading

Fair comment. I think (without verification from him yet) that it potentially betrays the Electrician thinking something is special about 1000MΩ though... marking results as <1000MΩ and C2 and saying there is a insulation resistance issue that leads to the need for a re-wire... might be all OK...

    EICR - C2 - circuits 1 and 2 low insulation resistance reading

I did ask the Electrician yesterday for a bit more info. and - most importantly - about how I might go about having him hopefully perform non-intrusive remediation if I could not get the property empty... nothing back from him as yet. I know it's only half a day... but prior to this question he...

    EICR - C2 - circuits 1 and 2 low insulation resistance reading

If that is the case it makes me wonder why he marked <1,000MΩ... as though it was some kind of boundary measurement that was important to the C2 rating. Why not <1MΩ?

    EICR - C2 - circuits 1 and 2 low insulation resistance reading

I am going to ask him. There appears to be a HUGE disconnect here, but it might be my layman understanding. My Electrician appears to have marked some circuits with C2 because they measured at something less than 1,000MΩ... we don't know what yet... obviously there's a range of 0MΩ up to 999MΩ...

    EICR - C2 - circuits 1 and 2 low insulation resistance reading

And I never expected this property to pass with flying colours... it is old, poorly maintained (that's on me, but I claim it's not my fault) and I also have little idea what the Tenant has been up to... so I expected some remediation work... and I was prepared for it (the biggest challenge is...

    EICR - C2 - circuits 1 and 2 low insulation resistance reading

Thanks. So - what we're saying is that it's a right old rigmarole to do any fault-finding..? That's the vibe I'm getting... and maybe it's just better for everyone (except the person who has to leave the property) if a re-wire can be agreed? I am unsure where this leaves me today. I have an...

    EICR - C2 - circuits 1 and 2 low insulation resistance reading

Thank you. I don't mind about the C3s anyway, of course. What I do mind is about potentially making someone homeless. My Electrician isn't a personal friend or anything, but he has done another six properties for me, all very professionally, with one needing minor remediation work... I do not...

    EICR - C2 - circuits 1 and 2 low insulation resistance reading

The stranded wire was assigned a C3. Fair enough. Here's a picture of page 5... What I'm just trying to evaluate - without coming across as cheap, because that's not it - is whether anything identified on a EICR should be possible to remediate without being forced to go down the path of a...

    EICR - C2 - circuits 1 and 2 low insulation resistance reading

Forgive me for not understanding what I'm looking at, but on page 5 I see: Circuit no. 1 ... then along to "Insulation resistance" ... and three figures - Test Voltage = 500? L/L L/N = <1000? and L/E N/E = <1000? Circuit no. 2 ... is exactly the same. Now, up at the top of that same page is a...

    EICR - C2 - circuits 1 and 2 low insulation resistance reading

This is most definitely not a DIY question... however, it is one people here can likely answer for me to give me a bit of extra knowledge, and power. I have a let property that is an old Sheffield terrace. I have a slightly reclusive Tenant in there. For years I've had annual challenges trying...

    Rabbeting router bits advice

I must admit this doesn't make sense to me... accuracy would be improved due to less hand wobble, surely? Moving the wood around the bit should imply better speed too... the effort of initial setup might be increased, sure, and may not be worth it unless doing lots of the same thing.

    Rabbeting router bits advice

Thanks for giving me your permission... :D ...strange that you may have thought I needed it. I will crack on with this, plenty of good things to work from on YouTube. Aim to rein-in your adjectives... "moronic" is a tad unjustified... the best way to impart your concerns about [your]...

    Rabbeting router bits advice

I don't know what a guide bush is!!! :( My router has a base... a collet... and bits.

    Rabbeting router bits advice

I do have the plunge base. I had to because some of the router bits I had (this configurable rabbeting bit being one example) wouldn't go through the hole in the standard base. I prefer the standard base for routing little roundovers and such, but need the larger plunge base for the...

    Rabbeting router bits advice

To be fair, I've only really used my router for putting nice edges on right-angled pieces of wood, plus my latest attempt at a rabbet. What I would like to do, though, is (realising that I must bite the bullet for building some jig / sled type thing) build myself a crosscut sled so I bought some...

    Rabbeting router bits advice

I really have no idea... that's partly the problem. I don't have a budget as such... I would be happy to spend quite a bit more, I was really just commenting that the more usable Rockler one meant I'd get hit for import duty due to its price. I've also been looking at the Axminster site...

    Rabbeting router bits advice

I know! I know! :D I guess I just want to make stuff... not make stuff that enables me to make stuff. I know it's a good learning experience and all that, but I just wanted to get going with my ideas... now things are getting in the way! :) The first one - the convertible table still looks good...

Apologies - this was the one I'd seen... https://www.rockler.com/trim-router-table - the baby one... but both looked good to me.

    Rabbeting router bits advice

Thank you. It makes sense. And that immediately highlights my second obstacle... yes, I had wanted to buy a router table for my little Makita for some time and the only candidate I saw that seemed to fit the bill was the Rockler variant... which used to be on Amazon (.co.uk) but hasn't been...
