    Decking protector?

Having just laid my decking, and having heard all the horror storys about coatings peeling off and the decking greying I wanted to double check that the 'RonSeal Decking Oil - Clear' that I am looking at using isn't going to ruin my life further down the line...

Getting the most out of softwood decking

I have the same wickes decking boards. I think you hearing the need to use is asap is that as it "dries" it can warp and twist slightly. This can make it awkward when laying it as you need to bend the planks back to get then straight. I only had to do it on a few (put of 50), Ira no buggy if you...

Decking, damp proof course and air vents

I had a very similar problem to you with mine. Having more enthusiasm then skill I left the darling approx 8mm from the house wall, level with the damp proof layer. I made sure the decking runs away from the house and ik then going to paint the wall in a brick sea lent! Combined with the gutter...

    Drainage Trench/Soak Away

One last attempt for advice! If in doubt I will probably fill the whole thing with gravel, and hope that it helps with medium-light rain and draining the surface of it and accept that heavy like we are having at the minute will be hopeless either!

    Drainage Trench/Soak Away

Can anyone comment on whether the gravel will support the soil, or will the clay soil still desperate from the concreted posts? Thanks

    Drainage Trench/Soak Away

I am half way through building my decking, and due to my garden being like modelling clay from 2" under the surface, and surrounded by houses, AND being the lowest point in the surrounding area it tends to be very damp. Half way through doing my decking, i dug a hole 1.5 feet wide, by 4 feet...

    Draining garden water into Sewer?

Damn, with this "drought" we"re having they should be paying me for the extra water I am supplying them! The soil.is solid clay as deep as I can dig, and the garden is 3.5m wide from my house to neighbours retaining wall. Garden then corners round up an incline to the rest of my small...

    Draining garden water into Sewer?

Half my garden is effectively modelling clay consistancy, and I have never been able to grow anything (inc weeds!) due to the location of my house, a retaining wall and very limited sunlight. As a result I decided to install decking over the entire area, so far I have laid all the joists and...

    Salvage my decking project!

With the soil being modeling clay consistency and draining away a very slow process is the weed matting going to hamper any evaporating/prevent a breeze getting to the soil under the deck? I am not sure what effect weed matting had on drainage.:

Lawn Help - I've been ripped off!

    Salvage my decking project!

Oh bugger! I am sure I saw somewhere that they were plated, or at least galvanised. I will reject the second pack of them tomorrow when I was going to pick them up! In the meantime best I start looking for some replacements. Knowing how difficult it was to remove a couple of them trying...

    Salvage my decking project!

Well you were right on the money with my draining trench. It is currently 90% full of water (2 foot deep x 1 foot wide x 3-4 feet long) and that's before I went ahead and added rubble/pebbles!! This damn drought we are suffering! I was planning on doing ridges down, but will have...
