Landis & Gyr 5235a -How to download data on FRAM

To me the situation seems clear. The reading is 17,164. This makes sense as the refurbished meter is unlikely to have been reset. The OP sent in a reading of 171 and this caused trouble with the calculation by the supplier. I have the same meter for generation here, and the decimal point and...

AA primary cell voltage through its life?

It does exactly that, and works perfectly. What I do to check that it set up right is to scan the cat with my Flipper Zero, and then check that the flap unlocks when I pass the Flipper Zero through the portal. I realise that not everyone has one of these but our cat really hates being pushed...

Electric tingle from hook near cable

Without some suitable equipment, and actually being on site, it is extremely hard to say.

Electric tingle from hook near cable

Some years ago I pointed out to the manager of a Hilton Group hotel near San Francisco, that their several hundred boxes containing fire extinguishers behind a glass panel were useless, because the extinguishers were larger than the hole in the locked door. I was promised a fast review. The next...

Bi and Omni directional RCD's how can one tell what has been fitted.

Actually, given time to build the circuitry, yes of course. This is something you ought to be able to work out yourself. As for the rest of it - I give up. It all just an excuse to build a post count. I found the answers on the internet within 10 min. You could do the same.

Bi and Omni directional RCD's how can one tell what has been fitted.

Because it didn't used to matter. As I tried to say, manufacturers have reported that under these conditions, the circuitry in question was liable to overheat if it remained powered. This is what the manufacturers' association were reporting that gave rise to the amendment. Don't shoot the...

Bi and Omni directional RCD's how can one tell what has been fitted.

People seem to be talking about current direction flow, which is clearly meaningless in this context. It is the direction of power flow that is being addressed by the amendment. It would seem that where an RCD is designed as uni-directional, on tripping, if the device is connected back to front...

Why isn't 3-core cable the standard for lighting circuits?

Why does that remind me of the 'bond everything metal in sight' 'rule'?

Why isn't 3-core cable the standard for lighting circuits?

I'd be interested to learn which regulation number says this.

Cost to heat DHW oil v electric?

-sigh- Are you taking your situation, with endless green but not well understood add-ons, to be representative of the typical household? Or are you just trying to demonstrate how, by spending enough on an installation, you can reduce the cost of electricity?

    2 way light switch hell(p)

I suspect you need an intermediate 2 gang switch instead of what you bought. I believe they are available in the same range.

Cost to heat DHW oil v electric?

You seem to be comparing apples and oranges. Gas comes in at about 7.3p / kWh and if you don't make any special arrangement electricity is typical over 29p / kWh. I'm sure you can do the sums.

    New wiring alongside underfloor heating

@Taylortwocities Where did you get that last picture of under my floor?

    New wiring alongside underfloor heating

The UFH will have been designed to run at a sensible, non foot burning, temperature in the worst case condition. The pipes will be slightly hotter than the floor by the laws of physics, but not likely much hotter than 30C. The floor pipes themselves will not be made hotter by legionnaires...

High Integrety CU - Internal cabling

This is an interesting demonstration of the mentality of your typical internet conspiracy theorist. In this case someone who shall be nameless, but he knows who he is, is proposing that all the (one assumes non-associated) manufacturers of such items as MCBs got together (illegally) and decided...

High Integrety CU - Internal cabling

It's my understanding, from other websites, that Wylex have been saying this, in published documents, for years. I also note that Hager show two columns for torquing, one for PZ and one for SL. It makes no sense to me to 1) invent a new screw just because some other vendor is using them and 2)...

High Integrety CU - Internal cabling

Yes, that's the point, it's a bad design.
