Modern boilers - different type of Gas Valve?

Sorry mate, but I dissagree. There are thousands of installers out there who don't use FGA's, I only got one when I started to do oil for the company. I think you would be suprised

Modern boilers - different type of Gas Valve?

Have to unfortunately agree with agile on this one. Most installers hang the boiler and leave, simple. This is the creation of 3 day ACS courses to give a plumber a gassafe number IMO. Must admit I found this post very imformative and useful, I won't pretend I knew what was written before...

air source, solid fuel, solar combination?

Be it on your shoulders if all goes wrong then? In fact *******s to it, Hep20 looks like fine to use on gas to me. If G3, and HETAS say its not allowed then you'll stuggle to get it signed off through building control as required.

air source, solid fuel, solar combination?

Look into heat banks/thermal stores. Unvented cylinders and solid fuel are a no no. Sam

Changes to Warm Front on the way?

Wrong. The grant allows for up to £3500 for gas £6000 for oil. That doesn't mean the whole amount is used. The prices are fixed price on a tick box basis. So if 2 trv's need fitting they can charge x amount per TRV which is fixed. This applies for everything. upgrade gas supplies...

Changes to Warm Front on the way?

Suppose it depend's on area, around here they're a royal pain in the arse to satisfy. I know there were many companies chucking ****e systems in willy nilly, but that is long gone now. I would welcome an inspection of any of my systems fitted over the last 5 years under warmfront by anyone. I...

    Sludge!

It's iron oxide, caused by steel radiators and similar corroding inside the heating system. Air being a main contributing factor again. Ever remember doing the test in school where you put a nail in water, air, and air and water, the nail in air and water rusted the quickest? HTH Sam :)

Changes to Warm Front on the way?

Can't see many small companies being able to join the scheme. Warmfront want to know you financial situation, health and safety policies etc then be prepared to wait for payment, which isn't made until the jobs are inspected , usually 3-4 weeks after install, and remedial's rectified if present...

    woodburning stove problem

Only to take advantage of the heat leak. Try reducing the pump speed to 1. If that doesn't work, add a 28mm gate valve to the cylinder return. Use this to slowly throttle the flow down. Thinking about it you said the installer switched the pump off and it boiled? If so then this would...

    woodburning stove problem

I think I understand what you mean. split the 2 radiators which are 'back to back' and share the same feeding pipework. Then connect the rad in the picture to the 28mm flow and return in the boxing? If thats the case then I doubt it work. The flow to this radiator needs to come from the...

x800 is far better than x400 too! Good luck with the twin entry valves, if it were me i'd leave them in the back garden and put some new ones on the wall! Sam

    woodburning stove problem

Hi pioner, Glad to hear we are on the right track. Firstly, the 28mm gravity circ's to the cylinder will always have priority due to there size and free flowing design. Also they circulate at just the right speed! One option is to add a motorised valve/cylinder stat to the 28mm return...

    New van

Gotta pull the head light switch/knob out I think 8) Had a traffic/vivaro from new,the gearbox bearings disolved and knackered the box (under warranty) also the ECU died and immobilised the van for 3 weeks, new ECU. Think the trim is held on with marmite too, one of the top back pieces...

    woodburning stove problem

Firstly, try turning the pump speed down to number 2. It may not be helping up that high as it won't be giving the water enough time in the boiler to heat up. Secondly, has any attempt been made to balance the system? The problem you may have is that because the stove and gas boiler...
