MDF bath panels - best way of fixing

Why not do as Symptoms suggests with the top (slide under bath lip), then use magnetic brackets at the bottom? It sounds as if you could fix a small batten to the back of the plinth on to which one side of the magnetic clip would fix, the other side at the bottom of the panel. No screws...

    Gravity HW backwards

Thanks JohnD. Yes the pump was a bit noisier than before. I did replace the pump while the system was drained. The old one was dated 1959, was almost silent and was on setting 3 out of 4. It's now in Derby museum. I've turned the new one down to 2, but will try it on 1 as well to check if...

    Gravity HW backwards

I agree entirely, but sometimes the thought patterns of us DIYers needs a little input of extra knowledge/experience to make them more effective! I had the pump on 3 because of the size of house, height of head and the large bore of the CH pipes (3/4" iron!) I assume that thinking was...

    Gravity HW backwards

Have just repeated the procedure suggested by Tony, and without the CH on, it goes the right way round. Could it be that the pump (currently on max, number3 , and sited 1m above boiler on flow)) is too strong and taking all the water from the top of the boiler? Poltergeists?

    Gravity HW backwards

Thanks Tony, yes, when it initially seemed air-locked, I closed off CH valve, turned to Max and ran the HW until it eventually cleared. It does seem to be weaker when the CH is on, but you would expect that. Just can't work out why it then goes the wrong way. The fact that it goes the wrong...

    Gravity HW backwards

He knows the laws well enough namsag, just refuses to obey them. I can only assume it's some sort of blockage, but if the water can get around the system one way, why not the other (correct and presumably easier) way?

    Gravity HW backwards

Boiler idle over summer. Drained, rad valves added (by me), boiler serviced and re-set (by Corgi chap). This is an old pumped CH, gravity HW system. After intitially having difficulty getting the HW to gravitate properly (prob air block) it now prefers to travel the wrong way, leaving the...

    Slow filling CH system (iron)

Thanks JohnD, I think I should try the cleaner. The reason I thought it wasn't a blockage is because it always drains very easily, and the ground floor fills up relatively quickly. The system is quite challenging, and there are lots of possibilities for air blocks. There are many metres of...

    Slow filling CH system (iron)

Thanks hi-spec....so the chemical cleaner wont have to get far before it meets what I want it to clear?

    Slow filling CH system (iron)

Should have added, last time I refilled it I resorted to running the pump (after making sure water was in that area of the sysem) and that seemed to help, but having just fitted a new pump, I don't want to risk burning it out.

    Slow filling CH system (iron)

No I haven't, mainly because of the difficulty in getting water into the system. But it has been drained and refilled three times in the past few years, and the water is always very clean.

    Slow filling CH system (iron)

I am in the process of re-filling my system and as in the past it is taking ages to fill. The system is old, about 1960, iron pipes, but still in good condition. The CH is pumped and the HW is gravity. The ground floor is now full after several hours, but upstairs generally takes 3 or 4...
