And now what you don't know you don't know is how to fit this so it doesn't leak. I know, I don't know enough to advise you but if you search this site you will get advice on the use of silicone sealant etc. Good luck

    position of air vent

The important thing is that the vent is positioned so that there is NO valve that may be closed between the boiler and the vent. Prior to the use of 2 & 3 port valves the vent could come off the flow to the coil just before the cylinder as this was the highest point in HW circuit. Nowadays...

    Sewer Pipe repairs question.

Surely as this is a common sewer it is the responsibility of the water company even though it is on your property. That is how it works in this area. Even if water company does not take responsibility it is unreasonable that you are taking responsibility alone as it services all the...

5 showers and water pressure problems

You are not permitted to put a pump on the mains as far as I'm aware. Your new pump is designed to cut out at low pressure as a safety measure and is probably more sensitive than the old ones. I think your only solution is to increase the size of the pipe into your house so that the...

    stopcock leaking

Where is it leaking from? It may just need the small gland nut tightened or the gland repacked if it is leaking along the shaft .

new toilet but old cast iron stack, old toilet cemented in!

http://www.multikwik.com/catalogue/14/wc-connectors.html MKS2 should do it bit you may have to cut the socket off the cast iron to get it to fit into the pipe. Don't use an angle grinder unless you can cover everything up to avoid damage from the flying sparks.

new toilet but old cast iron stack, old toilet cemented in!

Looks as if it is 4" ID cast iron. A plumbers merchant should be able to sort you out with an adapter. However you will need to clean up the bore to get a good seal. Rubber Gloves!!

new toilet but old cast iron stack, old toilet cemented in!

What is the inside diameter of your CI pipe. I think you can get adapters that will seal into the CI pipe and will then take your new pan connector.

    water dripping from vent pipe

Thats usually the problem as the vent is teed of the flow to the coil. With the heating on the head of water does not build up to the same level. However usually the pumping over is more of a flow than dripping. Are your radiators heating up OK? Cooler spots at the bottom would indicate...

    Strange smell

Is sewer pipe under conservatory UPVC or glazed earthenware? How deep is it? How long has conservatory been built? Does the powerplate transmit significant vibrations into the floor? If pipes are shallow earthenware could plate have disturbed the joint or even cracked a pipe? Any smell...

    cold radiator hot pipe

I'm not absolutely clear of where you made the disconnections described Possibilities: TRV is jammed shut. Remove head and check that pin can be moved up and down. TVR is on return rather than flow. Most can be on either but some have to be on flow(inlet) pipe to work properly. Rad...

    Installing an outside tap

If your wc is fed from a storage tank in the loft rather than by mains pressure your outside ntap may not have much flow/pressure when connected to a hose. Sink will be mains pressure. Kits are not as good as full bore plumbing as they use a smaller bore flexible pipe but are relatively...

Boiler positioning — flue proximity to wooden truss

Can you turn the bend from the top of each boiler 90 degrees towards the middle and then add another bend in each case to take the flues out through the wall closer together?

    waste stuck in toilet pipe?

The "extremely infrequent" use could be the problem as the stagnant water has time to grow algae etc. Give it a good dose of bleach overnight and flush next morning and see if/how quickly the water discolours.
