Hello, I'm building a carport with a 12" span and wondering on rafter sizes. I'm either going to slate it or ply and felt. Would 2x6' timbers bow over time? Would 2x8' be better? Thanks for your help.

Electrician shouldnt have the front off the boiler anyway. I'd get a gas engineer to wire it up.

They do a service contract if I'm not mistaken.

It might be worth looking at a service contract with the likes of British Gas or SSE. They have a one off repair cost and I'd imagine the annual subscription would be less than the £300 you've already spent. Having said that if it's a design fault then they probably won't cover it.

It's quite rare for a grundfoss pump to become faulty after a couple of years IMO. did you see the condition of it? Any sludge? What colour is the water when you bleed the rads? Glad it's sorted!

Try turning all the working radiators off and let the pump concentrate on the 3 that aren't working. Hopefully this will help push the flow through. Once warm (if it works) leave for an hour and then turn the rest back on.

If it works for hot water then you know the boilers functioning. So I'd start looking at timer,roomstat, ch thermistors as a start point.

Just to eliminate the fire risk. My unvented tanks in my loft, classed as outside air and holds the heat well!

They're very well insulated as standard. If wrapping more round it avoid the immersion and cylinder stat. Make sure the hot water draw off is well lagged.
