    Thanks for the reply. Justcut at the back of kitchin cubboard and found it's 'Liff Limefighter inline'. I preseme I don't have to call a Gas engineer to replace that, as a plumber can do that, although it's fittned to cobmi-boiler pipes. It's about 9 years old.

    He only comes out for emergecy plumbing, as he was called by downstairs neighbour. As this to do with gas, he is not qualified to touch or repair it. He just identified where the leak was coming from. Now I have to find someone to replace it.

    Thanks for your reply. Just got a new one but the same make as the last one. It's called 'Selector IC' or something along that line, as the logo is hard to read. After I inserted the new one, it came back to life. Next time, when it gives me trouble I know which make to go for.

    Thanks. Looks like a temp fix. After switching off, and on again, it struggles to light up for first few seconds, before light up. I only bought the current starter about 5/6 weeks ago.

    It worked! it started to blink and then had reverted back to glowing both edges, then twisting the starter anti-clockwise felt it locked onto something and lit up the whole tube. I hope it's fixed. Many thanks for your help, we had to use our lamp shade in the kitchen to eat. Don't know...

    Right, I got the specs. On the starter it says 4-80W / 220-250v The tube is about 5 feet in length is rated as 'F58 T8/ 3300K' Hope it helps Thanks. :)
