Please help me understand my problem and what I can do about it!!

Phil asked if there were any other options. I don't know how much Phil is looking to spend but unvented cylinders and accumulators will run into thousands. Just trying to offer another option. Of course an unvented is the most favourable option imho. Phil's primary concern is getting a good flow...

What about a larger vented cylinder with a shower pump as someone said earlier?

Chill Winston. Just replying to Phil's comment above and Dan's about disparity between heating and hot water output.

Careful with manufacturers stated flow rates. Check what the temp rise is at the stated flow rate. It'll be lower at 40 degree C rise.

Totally agree. Just saying you could run a 34kw combi for your hot water and range rate the heating to maybe 15kw. Only offering an option. Cdi classics allegedly condense in hot water mode and can be range rated.

Time yourself filling a 2 Ltr bottle and work out the flow rate from the cold main that way. More accurate than a cup in my opinion.

How about a powerful combi that can be range rated? I'd have thought the cheapest option.

Ferroli Optimax 38HE Hot Water probs.

Any suggestions guys? I've been looking at a 38HE today. Despite the hot water been set on max it barely gets above 40 degrees. The diverter valve is working correctly so I'm not losing heat that way. I've had the secondary heat x out and it's clean as a whistle. The heat input is...

    Gravity hot water, pumped heating.

Thanks for your response. It was my first post and accidently posted it in the wrong category. I understand it would be better fitted with a cylinder stat but this is a retro-fit clock only (all current wiring runs to a Danfoss 3060 in the lounge and the only piece of kit that is more than 2...

Gravity hot water, pumped heating wiring.

I'm using a Drayton 241, is this Ok for the job? It has a gravity/fully pumped jumper that I will obviously put in the gravity position.

Gravity hot water, pumped heating wiring.

Ok, so I run the switched live from the boiler to terminal 3 and this is the only externally wired connection to the boiler. I then run terminal 4 to the room stat common and then the call from the room stat to the pump so the pump runs until temp is reached? Thanks again for your help guys.

Gravity hot water, pumped heating wiring.

99% of the work I do is new installations and I always get a 17th ed sparks in to sort electrics on anything more complicated than a combi. It's just a friend has asked me to take off his Danfoss 3060 and fit a new Drayton programmer. My friend doesn't want to pay and is looking to furnish my...

Gravity hot water, pumped heating wiring.

My programmer has 7 terminals. Live, Neutral, Earth, 1, 2, 3, 4. 3 is hot water on and 4 is heating on.

Gravity hot water, pumped heating wiring.

Ok, if I put the pump after the thermostat without the cylinder stat in place, every time the hot water is on the power will go to the pump via the shared terminal for the boiler's switched live. How about if I put the pump before the stat? My fear with this is if the stat reaches...

Gravity hot water, pumped heating wiring.

Thanks for your quick response. My concern is, as there in no cylinder stat how to prevent power getting back to the pump when the programmer is on hot water only?

Gravity hot water, pumped heating wiring.

Hi, has anybody out there got a wiring diagram for the above system WITHOUT a 2 port valve and WITHOUT a cylinder stat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's just a back boiler, 3 amp switched supply, pump, room stat and a twin channel timer switched to the gravity mode.
