Do I need the architect to submit to planning?

You can do it all yourself if you like, I did my own drawings for planning. The bit where it may be worth it is if your submitting a full plans building regs application as, that will require quite a few drawings of how stuff is to be built some of which if you've never done it before can be...

    Insulating a window reveal

So with all the plaster off and out the way it turns out there were loads of gaps around the window frame, some big enough I could reach in and touch the cladding outside. I've folded a piece of rockwool into the top of the cavity to stop the foam dropping through and now the whole frame is...

How to drill round hole into concrete roof for drain pipe?

Start your core, once your in 10 to 20mm take the core drill back out, get a masonry bit long enough to drill all the way through and drill holes all the way round inside the groove the core drill made. The extra holes will making cutting the core hole alot easier and if there's rebar there...

    Insulating a window reveal

Hi all, I'm internally insulating a North facing wall in my house. I've removed all the existing plaster and now I've measured up I think I'm going to have an issue with the reveals. My original plan was 25mm celotex, 9.5mm plaster board and allowing for 3mm skim that comes to 37.5mm...

    Loft clear-out and rewire

You can't just remove the ceiling rose in your loft as it's basically being used as a junction box, you'd need to replace the cables completely to do away with it. For me if everythings working correctly I'd use either a wago or hager maintenance free junction box, connect it all into the box...

How often do you injure yourself?

So, back at hospital today for a follow up to the table saw finger. Dr wasn't happy with it, he thought the xray showed something still in it so they injected a local anaesthetic into the finger, split it all open again and abraded the life out of it. Got to go back to hospital again...

Adding New Kitchen Socket on the ring

Everyone is aware of what you want to do and it is ok to do it that way, but it's easier and uses less cable and connections to do it as a 4mm spur

Adding New Kitchen Socket on the ring

Stop using chatgpt it's wrong. Wago's behind a socket are fine as they are still accessible and where you'd expect to find connections, they need to be in a maintenance free box when they are going to be inaccessible such as plastered into a wall or buried under a floor. EFLI's suggestion of...

Adding New Kitchen Socket on the ring

What regulations do you think stop you having wago's behind a socket?

Adding New Kitchen Socket on the ring

If it's definitely a ring then you remove one cable from the existing socket, extend that to the new socket then run a new cable between the new socket and the old socket. It would be better if you could replace the cable your extending with wago's but that isn't always practical, if the back...

    Rachel Reeves budget

I'm in the current 40% bracket, I'd happily see it increased to 45% if I thought the money actually went where it's needed but it doesn't, it'll end up lining the pockets of those that are fleecing the government. The biggest issue is the mismanagement of the current money raised, the NHS is a...

    Advice regarding Tado system bypass

If you want to have a bypass radiator then the simplest option is to remove one tado trv and replace it with a conventional trv and leave it on 5. If you have the tado wall thermostat then the radiator in which ever room the wall stat lives shouldn't have a tado trv on it anyway otherwise it...

Yeah there was a bit of a mistake with the level of the extension but laying 36mm in the existing bedrooms makes them meet nicely.

    Beko wdx8543130b not spinning

Hi all, I've been informed by she that scowls that the washing machine isn't working. I put a half load in it and put it on a daily quick cycle which should be about 28 minutes. The door locks, the machine fills with water then it just sits there with 27 minutes on the timer, after another...

Dunno about arresting them. They should give them time off for services to the community.

Actually I do think they should be kept alive, they should have to live with fear in prison of what other inmates are going to do to them.

How often do you injure yourself?

The work piece didn't snag, like a **** I looked away from what I was doing and continued to push the work piece into the blade. It's sore but it'll all heal fine.
