    Tried a skinny endoscope?

The cheap ones are so cheap that in a sense you can’t go wrong. I bought one. I think it would take a fair bit of trial and error to learn how to use it effectively. In particular, it’s not trivial to get it pointing in the right direction or to recognise what you’re looking at. I think that...

    gas boiler

Is this a genuine question where you don’t know the answer, or are you looking for sympathetic messages of support? Both are available here, but it helps to know where we stand. You seem to have had a bad week, with this and the damp proofing complaint; sorry about that!

5 core induction hob cable (1.5mm?) to 10mm supplied cooker outlet

Often cookers have the possibility of being connected to a 3-phase supply, which would require 3 lives, a neutral and an earth. Are you sure yours has 2 lives and 2 neutrals? If so, maybe they’re using the same cable for the 3–phase and the single-phase versions. (Has anyone else ever seen...

How to air pressure test water pipes

Cheap but good-enough water pressure testers like the one in the photo in Madrab's post are available on eBay for under £15. Don't mess around with compressed air.

    Old wall light wiring

“Single plus earth” is a thing: https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/2326306-6241y-1-5mm-single-core-cable-brown-grey-100m-drum The earths should have been joined together in a terminal of some sort, not just twisted. Yes. Don’t loose track of which red wire is actually neutral. Put...

    Help with 4 colour wiring

So where is the other end of that cable now? I think I can identify it in the very first photo. Is it one of the cables in your new junction box, or not? Note there is no guarantee that the wires in the fan isolator actually have the roles marked on the switch.

Bathroom light flickering with switch in off position

I’m unclear about how this works - you say that the extractor runs when the lights are on, but you also mention an extractor fan switch. What switches do you have, and how to they behave?

Condensate trap for bathroom extractor fan

Not the worst I’ve ever seen, but I’d re-do it properly. Ideally use rigid ducting, with a constant upward gradient. Then any condensation would run back to the shower. If you fitted a condensate trap, where would you drain it to? It should probably be insulated. (Is that a boiler terminal in...

    Help with 4 colour wiring

It’s not safe to assume that blue in a R/Y/B cable is neutral. Don’t try to fix this by guessing. Look in the switch, and the extractor fan.

Internal door as flat internal front door

That’s better than nothing. Anyone know of it needs to be 60? It’s only two stories, right? The other consideration is security, and whether your insurance is happy with it.

10mm Steel Wire Armour cable to man cave

In 1990, it would pay for a week in a pub. £1.02/pint. Today at £5.40 it buys me 5½ pints.
