    Quinn therm.

Hi, The working drawings for our extension specify minimum 80mm Xtratherm or equal between 145x45 timber frame wall studs. I can collect this from about 100 miles away for nearly £29 per sheet, or get Quinn therm delivered at under £24 per sheet. The local TP and Jewsons only do 75mm...

    Extension progress.

Hi all, Well, that's the extension shell up. My contribution has only been drawing the plans and what seems like endless blood sweat and tears labouring for a few skilled mates. The original plan was to use reclaimed roof tiles to match the originals but the ones available were pretty much...

    Zanussi autocycle 1200 FS 1255 W problem

Thanks, there is a square white nylon clip round the thread, still trying to suss it out!. Looks like a replacement valve is needed, I can't flush or blow through it as the solenoids are shut. Pricey, cheapest i found is £22.

    Zanussi autocycle 1200 FS 1255 W problem

Hi, After a big flood in our private water supply stream the tap water was running very dirty. The washing machine stopped taking in water and I found there was no filter in the end of the inlet hose. I suspect that the inlet block (thingy!) in the machine may be blocked with dirt. Can I blow...

Many thanks again to all. :)

    Heat loss/radiator sizing.

OK, so for a room with "Kilowatts Heat Loss Calculated" of 1.58kw, a rule of thumb would be a 2kw radiator and so on?. The total kilowatts heat loss for the house is 17.47kw including DHW, so is the boiler size based on that or on the size of the radiators added together plus 3kw for DHW?.

    Heat loss/radiator sizing.

Sorry, I did a search before posting but didn't get anything useful. Have now found what i think I'm looking for -the steelrad chart.

    Heat loss/radiator sizing.

Hi, We're renovating a 1930s end terrace and are looking at probably an oil fired central heating system. I've done a heat loss calculation for all the rooms, how do i convert the figures for each room to give the sizes of radiators required?. I realise it isn't an exact science. I'd like...

    Old and new cable colours.

Hi, We're having a small extension built and obviously the wiring will be modern colours. Is it OK to have the original part of the house on red/black wiring and the new part modern colours (brown/blue)?. In Scotland, if it makes any difference.

    Cables for wall lamps.

Hi, I've just discovered that the cables for our wall lamps are in plastered chases from the floor up the way. Is this OK or should they be coming downwards.
