    Drain 'sock' relining?

You could always try your insurance if you think there will be more roots in the longer section. If your insurance appointed contractor unlocked and CCTV’d and found no faults, you would make no claim and incur no cost as far as I understand. If your 4mtr section was 100mm pipe I would guess...

    Soundproofing terraced house

If you can afford to loose 100mm then a stud wall 50mm off the house wall packed with Rockwool Soundslab would be decent. It would cost about £150/£160 in materials then need a plasterer to skim it.

What have you been doing today?

Water meter contracting for United Utilities. More money, less hours, no wandering around farms looking for leaks, no 3 hour drives to Birmingham and I don’t have to have the van at home (which I hate) so I can get my Clubsport and have a short commute to my new yard :)

Which 8x4 sheet for loft stairs he area?

Daughters loft storage area is ready for some flooring. We can get 8x4 sheets up there so I was thinking of using 18mm shuttering ply because it’s strong and cheap. Would there be any disadvantage of using that compared to the 18mm 8x2 sheets of the P5 chipboard?

    Paving without a wacker

When I do drain repairs I never use a wacker. I use a hand rammer to compact the stone then rubber mallet to smack the blocks down onto grit sand (Or grano). Then once I brush the kiln dried over I tap the blocks with the mallet again to get them perfect.

    Aco drains

Your gully trap is under the blocks now so it it ever did block you will have to dig it up to access it. That’s the round but you see on the ‘before’ picture just out from the house.

    Loft insulation

If it’s a room you insulate the ceiling, if it’s just storage or empty you insulate the floor.
