    what is this?

I would imagine that it will just slide out once the circlip is removed. There is most likely a groove in the spacer and/or rod for the circlip to fit into. I don't have circlip pliers but have removed circlips carefully with 2 flatties (using them to pry the circlip apart) Be careful where you...

    what is this?

Sorry if the above isn't helpful I read your post as asking about removal as opposed to purpose....

    what is this?

Looks like a circlip. Used in lots of automotive parts. You can remove a circlip with a couple of flat screwdrivers. The pros have a special circlip tool

James, I have been reading this thread and also your one on router bits. FWIW, I suspect that you are fairly new to routing so I would advise thinking carefully about what you actually need. JobandKnock (amonst others) has given you some excellent information and he is correct about starting...

Ahh...Freddy - I've missed your sparkling wit (NOT!) TBH, I've known about energy ratings for appliances and such but, having lived in the same property for almost 30 years and never having sold any property, such things as EPCs didn't catch my attention. Only now do I need to start learning...

I would recommend both FFX and D&M Tools. I regularly purchase from them and find them both excellent. FFX has the 622 at £261 and the 625 at £292 D&M have the 622 at £286.95 and the 625 at £249.95 (on offer) Both usually offer free delivery Most plunge routers will fit under a table...

The flat upstairs is leaking water into my flat

I would take professional advice before doing anything but... It's possible that the copper pipe with the isolating valve was fitted as a drain off for your upstairs neighbour's CH system. Not a usual way of doing things but entirely possible. The alternative is that it was part of the original...

Yep - that's my thought exactly hence the question to the OP. Am wondering if it was fitted as a drain off. :)

The flat upstairs is leaking water into my flat

I am guessing that the pipes going across from the Ts (on the left) are feeding the rad on his wall on the right (where you say it is) That would suggest that the pipework in question is part of his central heating system. Is it possible that his system was originally fed from the...
