    Oversized rads a good idea?

Ok, I'm not convinced on the log boiler. I think we havent really got enough space for the logs and the huge accumulators, it's very expensive, we dont have an existing out house, the flue would have to be very high, smoke emission is questionable and I dont think I have time. I'm now looking...

    Oversized rads a good idea?

Yeah going to really head down the biomass option now. Baxi innova looks good - I'm just not keen on the huge accumulation tanks! They recommend 800 + 600 litres. I just don't know where we would put them. Can the boiler and tank go in a wooden shed outdoors? We have a good quality...

    Oversized rads a good idea?

Yeah I'm really beginning to agree. I'm looking into Baxi options today. Norcon, can you explain (to a novice) how this system works with out a large thermal store? Also, could you run me through how you use this on a day to day basis? eg. fuel? Daily fills winter/summer? Where does...

    Oversized rads a good idea?

Ok understood - thanks for the help. Could you point me in the right direction for a ducted system upstairs? I think a twin split would be enough downstairs? With the gable end of our semi the install will be straight forward...could you give me a ball park figure for a typical...

    Oversized rads a good idea?

Thanks corgigrouch. I think that if the main unit goes down all heating goes down doesn't worry me too much, as it's no different to relying on a boiler or air to water ashp. Also we'll have our boiler as a safety net. The indoor units being set to cooling by mistake...I see what you're...

    Oversized rads a good idea?

Can anyone explain why a split system is a bad idea...it seems to make sense on paper to have one system running multiple units. Thanks for any more help

It does seem very cheap! I would love to know if there are any downsides?

    Oversized rads a good idea?

Thanks for the recommendation. We have a loft conversion so ducting could be tricky. What size/diameter is the ducting pipe? Is a single heater unit on the landing to heat 4 rooms crazy? Landing is tiny.

    Oversized rads a good idea?

Thanks for the advice. Was just getting the ball rolling...what units should I be looking at?

    Oversized rads a good idea?

Thanks for the info - fancy doing an install in Cardiff?lol I'm going to explore some biomass options this week. In the meantime I've been looking at air to air options on eBay - as recommended on here. It really does seem like air source heaters could be a cost effective solution...

    Oversized rads a good idea?

I think the baxi solo innova looks suitable. We have a 3 bed semi 1895 with 90m2 floor area.

    Oversized rads a good idea?

Thanks guys - all very helpful. The downside for me with air to air is that although downstairs is ideal (as it's open plan), it's not so good upstairs with 4 separate rooms to heat. It's also not a way to get rid of our LPG. I'll keep air to air on the back burner and look into the baxi...

    Oversized rads a good idea?

I have looked at the valiant split system that had 4 indoor units but it would mean leaving open doors upstairs as upstairs we have 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. I assume idea is that you have 2 units upstairs and 2 downstairs? Then that would be door all our heating and just use LPG combi...

    Oversized rads a good idea?

Ok the company came over and don't seem to know anything about the central boiler e-classic 1450 that they are actually selling! Big waste of time there! I've read a lot of bad reviews of these models for smoking out the neighbours, just have a look on YouTube. Although we are pretty...

Are ASHP included on RHI scheme?

I just cant seem to get a clear answer on this... I understand there is a RHI Premium Payment for ASHP of £850 until March. What is the current situation with ASHP being included on the RHI scheme (similar to FIT for PV solar). Are they included? If not, when's the announcment and...

ASHP - suitable with microbore ?

Thanks Tony. A few people have mentioned that 8-10mm just cant get the flow rate required. The installer said suck it and see....see how the ASHP performs, if it's not getting the house warm we might need to replace it for 15mm. What do you think?
