I'd have to agree. Flow switch is a doddle,whip the burner out for access 20 mins tops.gas valve,slide the pcb housing out and bobs yer uncle,all there in front of you.the fan can be a pain if the 2 screws or the spades break but not a real pita.

how long after the service did the problems start? it may not have been doing it when he was there as i cant see why he wouldnt re-pressurise it at the time.Try it yourself or pay the 40quid as i dont think he will come foc.Also the prv might be knackered now so if you are getting him back...

is the cold poor at the tap or just the shower.shower may have a filter that is now choked

just let the gas safe engineer who is fitting the new one remove it.should take him all of ten minutes..and he wont flood the place or leave an open ended gas pipe
