Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

So this morning we had lockout and the motor started humming on first reset but fired up on second restart. How can the motor have gone wrong? It was replaced a month ago.

Tell me about it. He did test the oil line after fixing the loose filter. Also did all the fuel analysis stuff, checked the nozzle, electrodes etc. To be fair he was here for hours. I am seriously beginning to think the damn thing is jinxed.

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

Oil line is being tested on Wednesday morning. I just wish someone would find out the reason for these intermittent lockouts once and for all.

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

It's bottom outlet and alas yes the tiger loop always has oil in it. Engineer is going back to manufacturers for advice. I guess we will get there in the end. Still cheaper than paying for a new boiler so hanging in there.

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

Alas I am away on holiday so left to my husband to sort out - of course didn't get sorted out at all. I would have insisted new pump be fitted. He has no interest in anything to do with running the house. No black smoke when engineer round on Thursday and my lovely husband could not be...

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

Engineer popped in but it was working fine Thursday of course so he didn't put the new pump in. Playing up again now with black smoke on fire up from the flue and reset taking more than a couple of attempts. Give me strength.

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

Engineer watched fire up with the burner out so he could see ignition sequence and to check if oil was gettin to it and as he though it is definitely to do with the oil supply. He did say that he found the filter on the pump had been fitted upside down New pump being fitted tomorrow...

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

I am sure he checked the pump pressure with his gauges when he fitted the tiger loop but will ask him if he checked the vacumn when I see him tonight.

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

Engineer back round tonight. Have a feeling he too is thinking its the pump at fault. Just annoying as forked out money to have that replaced in November (by the old engineer) and now it's playing up.

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

Yep, I am thinking tiger loop was fine too after all. But hey these things have to be ruled out. Pump was replaced in November annoyingly so didn't last long. Proving costly yes - but cheaper than a new boiler and quite honestly as long as it finally works I will be happy

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

Tiger loop moved on Friday. Worked fine over weekend but nothing this morning. Won't fire up at all now, motor is running, here a slight click and then lockout. No firing up at all. Back to engineer me thinks - on the bright side at least it's completely gone now so he can at least see...

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

It's a 10mm pipe. Not sure how high the lift is I don't think it's that much but there is a tiger loop. It only locks out from cold then runs fine for the rest of the day

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

Ok so this morning it fired up for a split second and then locked out. Lets see if re-siting tiger loop, changing coil on pump and checking position of pump to motor helps. He is definitely convinced it is something to do with oil supply though as only happens when boiler has been inactive...

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

Yep engineer did say he has been to many a client where the tiger loop has worked perfectly well under the boiler but it has got to be worth a try. He is also going to check the pump coil and the position of the pump in relation to the motor to make sure it is allowing the motor to spin...

Oil boiler on lockout after new motor fitted

Tank filter was most certainly not checked. I am going to list all the things you have suggested and bring them up with the engineer when he comes round tomorrow
