Is this the correct place to enquire about choice of taps?

Similar situation. I fitted one of those pull-out spray taps. I have mains cold and gravity hot. The flow from the hot was poor - it took five minutes or so fill the washing-up bowl. Eventually ( ) I replaced it with a pillar tap and the improvement was very good. Admittedly the new tap...

    edging tape

When the edging is wider I have always glued it on first lining up one edge so there's only one to trim. Then, once firmly stuck, I trim it. Use a stanley knife for the thinner edging (such as the iron-on stuff) or a hacksaw for the thicker such a worktop ends, always cutting towards the stuck...

Kitchen extractor fan: Repairing a bad(?) installation job

Sorry, Network Error caused the reply to post twice and I can't find the Delete function withing Edit!! :?: and now realise this was bumped by a spammer. Still it might help someone else! Your existing setup is not necessarily "clearly wrong". I have an old Hygena extractor which...

Kitchen extractor fan: Repairing a bad(?) installation job

Your existing setup is not necessarily "clearly wrong". I have an old Hygena extractor which just discharges the air out the top like yours does. However, it has a large mat of a filter to extract grease and much of the moisture and also a carbon filter to remove the odours. It seems to work...

    Boundary Ownership

I would read that as being the left hand side and the top, ie anything to your right as you travel from South to North (assuming only two boundaries)

    Boundary Ownership

If the T sticks into your land then generally you are responsible for the boundary.

Reconfiguring kitchen units to allow dishwasher installation

Do the unit sides go down to floor level or do the units stand on adjustable legs? If on legs you could prop the worksurface with a few bits of 4x2 or similar and then lower the unit and remove.

    Pressure washer blows fuse

A chap down the road had a similar problem with an angle grinder. That turned out to be him using an extension lead with a 5amp fuse where the angle grinder was 2000 watts.

    Tiny bathroom decor?

I think once you have a bit of colour from accessories then it won't look as stark. So towels, bathmat, some things on the windowsill and the usual array of things making it look like a branch of Boots should suffice. If you want to paint the walls then a pale blue would be better, I think.

replace boiler or keep existing ?

Work out what advantages you will get from a new boiler. If it's just lower fuel bills then work out the payback time. So if it costs say £1500 to switch boiler and you save £100 per year then that's a long payback time. And new boilers appear to not last as long as older ones. I want to...

No hot water from the taps

Not a deliberately stupid question, but when you connected the cold and the hot taps was the cold tap a mains pressure one (as in the kitchen) or is it fed from the cold water tank (often the case in bathrooms)? If the latter then there wouldn't be sufficient pressure to backfill. As stated...

It's your money they are giving away.

Tricky one. Supposed the Investment Bank division made a profit of 10 billion (made-up figures). The other divisions in total lost 14 billion, so the Bank lost 4 billion. I'm not totally averse to paying the Investment bankers a bonus in recognition of the large contribution made, staving off...

Heating needs to be on to heat hot water

So, if the boiler's been running for 30 minute, how far along the pipe is it hot - just as far as the pump, the T-piece, or where? Has it always been this way? If the same pipe is feeding the CH and the HW and there is no valve in either then you would need the CH to be on to run the pump so...

Heating needs to be on to heat hot water

I doubt it's the way it's supposed to work. Your photo shows a cylinder thermostat which should switch the boiler off when the water in the tank is up to temperature. Do you have separate switches for hot water and CH? If you just switch the HW on, does the CH pump run? Is the boiler to...
