Constant leaks from pipework around hot water cylinder

Agree, the two joints that have already been repaired used a smear of jointing compound and they've been water tight. Just a shame I seem to be working through every joint in the airing cupboard.

Constant leaks from pipework around hot water cylinder

Thanks for your replies. I've attached two photos. One shows a close up of the leak. The other shows: 1. Highlighted in red - the current leak. You can see the connection looks dirty and stained, like it has leaked before. 2. Highlighted in green - the two connections that were leaking but...

Constant leaks from pipework around hot water cylinder

Hi there, I moved into a "second hand" new build just over a year ago. It has a large unvented Kingspan hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard. Last year I had the boiler serviced and my plumber noticed the tundish in the airing cupboard was dripping. He order a replacement valve of some...

Bathroom extractor fan dripping down wall

Yep, I'm going to flip the fuse most likely on Sunday and take the fan off the wall. I'll post a photo. I'd also like to re-fit the fan the right way up but it will depend on whether there is enough slack in the cable or whether it's been cut off with nothing to spare.

Bathroom extractor fan dripping down wall

The house is 6 years old. I've lived here for a year and it was fitted when the house was built.

Bathroom extractor fan dripping down wall

Okay thanks, I'll turn the power off at the weekend and take it off the wall and see what is behind. It's a newish house, and all of them on the estate have their extractors (bathroom and kitchen) terminating in an air brick. Of course, that's not to say it's correct

Bathroom extractor fan dripping down wall

So if there is no duct I could add one. Or if the duct is somewhat loose inside the hole, I could pack it out to make it slope accordingly?

Bathroom extractor fan dripping down wall

Yes, unfortunately the fan is fitted on its side. If I remove the fan and the duct is sloping inwards rather than outwards, I'm assuming there won't be any easy way of fixing that?

Bathroom extractor fan dripping down wall

Hi there, please see some pics of the vent outside, and the fan inside (I've taken the cover off).

Bathroom extractor fan dripping down wall

In the case of the main bathroom (which is the most problematic) the pipe doesn't go into the loft, it goes straight through the wall. One thing I notice is that the fan on the wall is fitted on its side. Could this be preventing the back draft shutter from swinging closed and causing...

Bathroom extractor fan dripping down wall

Thanks for your reply. It's definitely not rainwater, we've had some exceptionally heavy rain the last few months and it's never let water in. It only happens when showering and the room gets really steamy. You can almost predict when it will happen based on the temperature outside (i.e how cold...

Bathroom extractor fan dripping down wall

There's just a plastic air brick grill on the outside (no flap). Behind the fan inside the wall I can just about make out some kind of clear plastic flap which I think is part of the fan construction. I can't tell if the pipe has a downward fall, I'm assuming someone just drilled a hole and...

Bathroom extractor fan dripping down wall

I have an Envirovent Silent 100 extractor fan in my main bathroom and en suite. In the winter both of them drip. The one in the en suite isn't a problem because it's fitted in the ceiling so drips on the toilet seat and can just be wiped up. However, in the main bathroom the extractor is on...

Blown worktop and re-sealing kitchen sink

Thanks both - when you say it's not worth the hassle, if you get another 15 years out of the kitchen rather than another 2 years, doesn't that make it worthwhile? Or do you mean it would just be better to pay for new worktops? I am guessing I won't get much change out of £2k for the latter...

Blown worktop and re-sealing kitchen sink

I moved house last year. The house is about 4 years old. The kitchen is immaculate and perfectly fitted... apart from the sink which sadly has been bodged. The worktop around the edge of the sink has blown in various places. The "bubbles" are hard and the laminate hasn't cracked. It looks...

    removing oil from tarmac

I know this was posted a long, long time ago. However I have the same issue so I wanted to resurrect this. I have lots of oil spots over my driveway. I already tried biological washing powder 3 or 4 times and whilst there has been a slight improvement they are still there. I've also tried...

    Repairing crack in composite door

Hi there, I have a black composite door which is south facing and very faded. It also has a small hairline crack in it around 6cm long which I would like to fill. I have searched for composite door fillers but cannot really find anything. I wondered if I could use black Colourfill which I...

New build - no floor vents

Just to clarify I don't see vents on any of the houses here, just two thirds with blue bricks and the other third with no blue bricks

New build - no floor vents

I have no idea but due to no vents I am guessing not

New build - no floor vents

Thanks, I thought the engineering brick was instead of the plastic DPC. If not, why would some have the engineering bricks and others don't?
