British gas wireless thermostat and Hive 2 installation

Take out the bottom connection (top row) 2 and 3 plus the neutral and/or earth wire coming from this same wire and leave it out. Put a link between 4 and 9 at the top by taking the one already between 3 and 9 out and reusing it. Job done. It couldn't be any easier for you with everything...

Flummoxed by Vaillant EcoTech Plus boiler

As above, turning the temperature on the boiler any higher than 55 or so will just result in you scalding yourself at low flow rates. The boiler can only heat the water so fast (24kw model you have is the lowest power output one they do). The reduced output your installer was talking about was...

    Glow Worm Ulitmate 30FF

No. Why would it be? You'd know if you were gas safe registered which you need to be to replace it.

Worcester Digistat + button not working - no heating

Of course the screen goes off with no batteries! The boiler is the bit where you set the time and date though as I described! No help if you've bought a Wired stat though...

Worcester Digistat + button not working - no heating

No no no... Go into the part where you change the time. Followed by the date... Then pairing mode is hidden at the end. Have batteries out of the stat before you start. Put it into pairing mode then put batteries in. Job done.

Worcester Digistat + button not working - no heating

You need to put it in pairing mode. Do you have a separate wireless receiver or is it the one built into the front of the boiler?

Greenstar 28i jnr bleed heat exchanger

No, it won't be air or you'd have the same issue on CH. Banging on DHW means either poor circulation either due to a blockage in the boiler or less likely a slow running pump.

Greenstar 28i jnr bleed heat exchanger

I don't think I have ever used that bleed point on one of these and I've worked on hundreds. The one on the pump (automatic) bleeds enough for the pump to then just push it all into the radiators.

    Upgrading shower pumps

Male is Surrey flange, female is York flange. Essex flange you cut into the side of the tank for it. You might have to order it, not that commonly used.

    York flange ;)

    Bulldog TRV heads

You misunderstood what I said... Not the air temperature the room thermostat is set to. The boiler flow temperature is what I was asking.

    Hive thermostat

Agreed. You can get it from BG themselves at that price too but it's quite hidden away on the website. Thinking of getting it for my parents for Christmas.

    Hive thermostat

    Correct!

    Hive thermostat

Hive is compatible with the most commonly used backplate that's used these days. So it may be a straight replace. Are you aware that the advertised price includes fitting too?

    New British Gas programmer

Just checked on my hive and if you edit then you can't change the times to the same as you described but start over allows you to have less than 3 on periods. I'm sure they work the same, yours is effectively a Wired Hive with a separate thermostat instead of wireless and all in one (plus Internet).

    Bulldog TRV heads

Yes the heads are straight replacement. Usually it takes many years for them to get that brittle though. Are you perhaps running the system very hot? (e.g. 80 degrees) as I can't think of anything else that would cause this to happen so fast.

    New British Gas programmer

Weird, you can do it on the Hive thermostats when you first set up, you set the first on off period then it asks if you want a second then asks if you want a third. Have you tried doing "Start Over" instead of Edit? If you've got the booklet called "How to use your programmer" then you've got...

    New British Gas programmer

They're brand new that's why. Using up the old stock of Draytons before sending them out. To set less blocks just set the start and finish times for that block to the same. It'll then just ignore it.

Replace current radiator with a towel radiator

Towel rails give off such low heat I wonder if you can even call it a radiator anymore. They really do just warm towels and that's it. I had one and replaced it after a year with a vertical radiator instead because I was sick of the bathroom being so cold. If you have damp then making it colder...

    New British Gas programmer

Yep, BG only model. Won't find any instructions elsewhere.
