Are you sure blue headlamps are illegal? I remember in my boy racer days I have coloured side lights for some reason and it failed, the comment was 'blue is the only other colour you can have forward facing as side lights' or words to that effect and I seem to remember checking in in the highway...

    parking on a junction ? illegal ?

I can't remember the exact wording as it was many years ago, but it was definately saying 'one or more wheels off of the...'. I also had a similar experience 2 years ago when I was pulled over by the police in a country lane. It was fairly narrow, though not single track so I pulled up on...

    Rusted old wrecks

£300 wont buy you much in Imp engines these days. A second hand Sport lump from a Sunbeam Imp sport or Stiletto will set you back anywhere from £250 to £500 and the 998cc can cost over £2k for a basic tuned one, full race in excess and over bored 1040cc etc will easily take you over the £4k...

    parking on a junction ? illegal ?

I got a parking ticket for parking with two wheels up on the pavement. The offence was 'parking with one or more wheels off the public highway'. There were no yellow lines either from memory, but it was some time back now.

Ford Focus air vents - power reduced.

Yeah, the resistor packs frequently failed on the Rover 200/400 knocking out different fan speeds.

    Fuel Consumption and cold weather.

Well cold air is denser than warm air so in cold weather you are getting more air in the engine than when it's warm weather. That's why cars tend to feel like they have more power on a nice cold moring. The ecu will notice the difference via the sensors and should make adjustment to the fuel...

    Vehicle modifications/insurance/aftermarket parts

There are always exceptiions. You should try and prove the car was fitted from the factoory with it so it's not a modification, depends what roadster it is, a local club might back you up with a letter even if your actual car was not spec'd at the factory with the hard top. I had a mate with a...

    Rusted old wrecks

haha, I've owned Imps for the last 14 years and never had one overheat on me. Think people look after them better and use better fluids and the gaskets have been improved nowadays. I've snapped a cam in three a couple of times, but never any overheating. (Think bouncing the revs round the 9k...

    parking on a junction ? illegal ?

Yep, parking within a specified distance of a junction, parking with at least one wheel off the public highway and parking on dropped curbs are all illegal. Yes, even if it's parking across your own driveway it's illegal. If it annoys you, the best route to take would be a quiet word in the...

A question about insurance and no claims bonus

Just because people have protected no claims, these days the insurance company will still increase the premium because of the accident and just claim that had you not had protected, it'd have gone up even more. I do believe NCD only lasts 2 years if not used. I too had the issue of...

    BMW 1 series on Ice

Traction control is not just about slippery weather conditions. the switching off of the BMW system is more because it's a basic system that does what it says on the tin. But fails when the conditions get really slippery. More modern traction control will adjust firmness independantly to each...

    Snow/winter tyres

That has to be utter tosh. Skoda Octavia's come new from the factory with no spare wheel, just a can of glue and a pump. The spare wheel is an optional extra. That would suggest that every time a Skoda gets a flat and the original owner did not pay the extra, they get a fine?????? On a side...

    Snow/winter tyres

By law if you carry a spare wheel it has to be servicable so if you read the law to the exact word, the minute you get a puncture and fit the spare, your now 'spare' is not servicable so you can either leave it at the side of the road... oh, hang on, that's fly tipping.... or you cannot continue...
