Bristan Glee shower blown again – is this a fuse issue? Need help with letting agent

It might be inside. We can't answer that without knowing the rating of the shower, the length of the cable and how it is installed. Whatever, the shower will be at least 8.5KW which exceeds the rating of the fuse, the fuse base looks heat damaged and it would not be a good idea to just replace...

Those MCBs are horrible, if you press the little red off button it's anyone's guess if it can ever be switched on again!

    Electric Boiler

Stick with the oil, get a new tank properly fitted and a new oil line installed. Then save up for a new boiler when the time comes. Continuing to use a damaged tank is total madness, if it was to split open you would be saying goodbye to your entire garden, and possibly your neighbours garden...

Traditional Bakelite Electric Doorbell - help needed!

Do you know what voltage the old and new bells are? You may need to change the voltage at the transformer, some old bells need only 4V which is too low for most others, 8 and 12V are common voltages for newer bells. I take it whoever did the painting did the cutting in with a roller!

Post war UK electrical industry 1946

Cool. Sadly the only items I have here that are mentioned there are some Bill Radette 3 phase switches. Certainly seen some of the other stuff still in use. Ellison switchgear is nice stuff, and Welwyn vitreous enamel resistors are still wonderful things. I'd also love to see one of those Pyrex...

    FP200 vs T&E (vs LSOH T&E)

Mineral insulated copper cable (MICC) Lasts forever and looks good when properly installed, no plastics to burn except the sheath, does not ignite, even when severely overloaded, smaller OD, fun to install, robust as hell, cables available with up to 19 conductors. FP200 Cheap, garbage cable...

The missing blanks from the normal consumer unit need to be replaced. I guess the space was once filled with the 2 LeGrill MCBs now in the off peak board.

What bathroom zone is this light fitting in?

I can remove the lamp from my bathroom pendant while standing in the bath, and then poke my fingers into the lampholder. My will to live however stops me from doing that. I can also spray it with the shower!

Can you identify this consumer unit?

Some of the first CUs I fitted were like that. How silly things have become now.
