    UPVC window bead identification please

Yes, and by using a narrow-gauge screw of a length to pass well into the frame, it will deter any opportunist scrote looking for vulnerable windows. By quadrant I mean a suitably small gauge of 1/4 round hard(ish) wood as the retaining beading. Pre drill the quadrant before fixing and you should...

Stains showing through even though Zinsser and 2 coats of emulsion used

I've always relied on a good aluminium primer to lock stains in and then never looked back.

Consumer unit - If i need to change a light pendant Will turning off the one switch be enough?

If it was a DP unit then switching off and removing the fuse would be the safest way to work.

I've cut some threads off of the track rod end cos couldnt get nut on .. will it pass MOT like this ? Pic included

Either of my family's two testers would take one look at that and issue a failure notice. This would be done to protect other road users and not just yourself. Having seen that steering, I do have to ask myself what the rest of the vehicle is like.

    Turbos on 1 litre engines

In all of the years I have been involved with Suzuki/Maruti engines, I've not encountered a single problem with chain tensioners. Cam belts are a different story, but chains have never IMO been problematic.

    Turbos on 1 litre engines

If you are seeking a small reliable engine with a chain driven double cam, then IMO you will find it difficult to beat the Suzuki stable's 1.0L NA engine(y)

Whats the toughest wipeable emulsion around at the moment ?

The one I stipulate and use in all of my rentals is Leyland Trade Hard Wearing Emulsion. IMO Dulux is expensive crap! https://leylandtrade.com/products/walls-and-ceilings/Hardwearing-Matt

Better still, use proper coping stones. They are available from all good builders' merchants or B&Q.

    Lengthen bug zapper cable

If that was my zapper, I'd dismantle the unit and then after removing the existing cable, fit a new length to the size required to reach the socket.

Immersion tank leak I can’t fix

Being old school, I much prefer hemp with jointing compound (Boss White) for threaded joints, of which I've never had a threaded joint leak. Before stripping it all down and starting again, check each brazed boss to make sure a small part of the brazing has not sprung a leak.

    Repair vinyl floor tile

Rather than go to all the faff of trying any kind of repair, replace the lot and give yourself a decent new floor (y)

Getting fence posts into an awkward space

Concrete posts with concrete gravel boards for maximum longevity EDITED to add ... maybe hire a petrol driven post hole auger and speed the job along. My go-to fencing contractor uses one and he always executes a speedy and good job to recommend to others (y)

To all those that welcome/encourage the small boat migrants.

Remembering old sayings, my Nan used to say to me when I caught a finger in a door that it would come up like a 'black man's pinch'.
