Leaking shower screen - remove this silicone?

I think I'm just going to take a sledgehammer to the whole thing and just bathe in a bucket in the garden for the rest of my life. Sigh. Taking the screen off and cutting a channel out is highly impractical since this is all brand new tile, so I guess that means I'm just stuck with this. I...

Leaking shower screen - remove this silicone?

I couldn't upload a video so see if this link works. https://photos.app.goo.gl/X96PugCLyT7aYZ3V6 I filled in the gap between the bath edge and the tile with silicone the other day and covered the corner with plastic so it could cure. But water is still coming out. And on top of that the...

That bit is on the inside of the screen.

Leaking shower screen - remove this silicone?

Yeah I didn't really think about bevelled tiles + shower screen when I ordered everything, alas. One of many mistakes I made with this project. I'm not sure that it does pour out the other side because there's already silicone between the tiles and the screen. It's just difficult to see...

Leaking shower screen - remove this silicone?

It's definitely not just that gap. The floor under that and the surface of the bath outside the screen will be dry while the wall in the corner has water running down. I stuffed a towel in the gap to check that.

Leaking shower screen - remove this silicone?

The tiles are bevelled so it's not really a flat surface. But he did run a bead of silicone before mounting it. There seems to be a small gap in the silicone on the outside which I am hoping is the real issue. Pretty easy to fix that.

Leaking shower screen - remove this silicone?

It's been an ongoing problem and his response was that the only thing I could do is put a ton of silicone on it. So I'm not sure that I entirely trust him to fix it at this point. Also it doesn't happen with every shower so I think it's maybe just luck that the water hits it in just the right way?

Leaking shower screen - remove this silicone?

Newly fitted shower screen leaks like crazy. I've read in several places that there should not be any silicone on the inside, but the fitter ran a bead on the inside bottom part of the seal. Could this be part of my leaking issue? Should I remove it? Water is going down the wall on the outside...

Surely this wire isn't live, right?

It probably did have that originally but after 70 odd years of remodeling the records are no longer accurate.

Surely this wire isn't live, right?

Well it pinged on every known live wire I tested it on so it seems to be more or less accurate. Doesn't answer the question of where the known live wires go when they disappear through the ceiling below however...

Surely this wire isn't live, right?

Yes, when we had rats before it was really obvious. You could see the tooth marks. In any event I finally was able to go out and buy a voltage detector and none of those cables under there come up as live. I'm not sure I trust that completely when it comes to the better insulated ones but the...

Surely this wire isn't live, right?

I'm pretty sure it hasn't been chewed. There's nothing else to suggest rodents anywhere. We had rats in a previous place and it was really obvious they had been in there, not least because they made such a racket.

Surely this wire isn't live, right?

Well hopefully that is the case. Unfortunately I never met the previous owner and we don't have that many records of what has been done. But we continue to find interesting choices. Today we took a cupboard off the wall to prepare for some more plumbing work and found some exciting vintage...

Surely this wire isn't live, right?

There isn't enough clearance between the bath and the floor to get my hand down in there to take a photo, or to see what's going on. I think the house was probably last rewired in the 80s. We had an EICR done about four years ago and the consumer unit was replaced, but the electrician didn't...

Surely this wire isn't live, right?

That one looks black to me in person. Is that a bad thing? I think it says "made in England to British standards".

Surely this wire isn't live, right?

It's in an awkward spot so hard to get a good photo but here's another try. Looks to me like red and black wires inside light grey insulation. It's about 1.5 cm wide altogether. I can't get my hand around the plumbing to get a look at the other side of the joist. Everything seems to be working...

Surely this wire isn't live, right?

Yes, I should have posted a photo with an arrow or something. I'm wondering if the plumber cut it accidentally a couple of weeks ago because it is suspiciously close to where he cut a floorboard. But he had pulled the boards up to change the plumbing around first, so I don't know if that's what...

Surely this wire isn't live, right?

Getting my bathroom redone has turned out to be a cursed project. Every few days something else goes wrong. The new pipes that lead to the bath taps started leaking overnight, dripping through the ceiling below. Fortunately ? the floorboards are still partly up so I could see where the leak is...

    Extra support for steel bath?

Alas the cheap orchard brand from Victoria Plum. I was having trouble finding a steel bath that would fit at the time I was buying supplies. The Roca one I wanted kept going out of stock or was only available with grab handles, which I didn't like. I have stood in it for several days now and it...

    Extra support for steel bath?

Stupid autocorrect. I think I'll just have to leave it unless it starts moving. I have stood in it and carefully checked the sides and it doesn't seem to be moving there, I just feel like the bottom moves a bit. Might be tricky to access to put a frame in the back but I'll ponder it.
