Radiators upstairs are on downstairs aren't

Radiators upstairs are on downstairs aren't

I think people buy mechanical TRV's because they don't need an app, dont need batteries, rarely go wrong and are generally cheaper for a good quality TRV rather than pay cheap for a poor quality electronic TRV. I dont see the point of a "smart" TRV that cant control the heat source, you may as...

    bit of advice needed.

As a landlord then surely your boss is not legally allowed to deduct anything directly from your salary unless it pertains to your employment. Heat Loss - Pen & Paper Check

5.5kW for one room is crazy, my whole 4 bed house is only a bit more than that! You could go with the DT40 radiators and run a suitable flow temp as required. Then fix the building insulation issues, especially the loft insulation as it’s a quick and cheap fix, then gradually lower the flow temp.

    35kW combi, 15mm CH pipes, 22kW rads - problem?

What is the heat loss of your property? I can't believe it is 22kW more likely to be around 8-10kW. A combi boiler in a 5 bedroom house with 4 bathrooms is less than ideal. As @gas112 has said swapping 15mm copper for 15mm hep is going to add some restriction to the flow.

    Hot Water Running Out

Your gas usage for Sept 2024 looks extremely low. I live in a similar size house to you and my gas usage is around 500kWh in September. How are you measuring gas usage and how are you dividing the usage between heating and hot water?

I guess “smart” heating means different things to different folk. :)

Add simple smart switch to external power socket

Isn’t that what the OP asked for? It was stated that they wanted you use their phone to turn it on or off.

    Are there Sonoff users here?

That’s not “smart” heating, it’s just remote control of a switch.

Add simple smart switch to external power socket

Have a look at the Shelly 1PM or the Shelly 1PM Mini, both operate over WiFi to a phone app and can be hidden inside a backbox.
