    Gas fire flue question

Same response. Only fires I've fitted need a 5" flue.

    dodgey open flue

Dont mean to sound rude, but if you are BG then why dont you know how to deal with a fault like a bad seal on a flue inspection hatch? Repair and test or issue warning notice.

Ariston ecoCombi 27 - Calling for heat but not igniting?

PS If it is set to summer only then switch it to summer/winter. Probably a sun and snowflake symbol.

Ariston ecoCombi 27 - Calling for heat but not igniting?

You need to clarify mate. If the boiler is on summer setting as in the summer winter switch then the boiler will not fire for central heating. If I've misenturpreted this then post another phat one. :D :D

How do i get instant hot water

A secondary loop on a combi ? Sounds like alot of work and wasted gas to me. Bit like trying to make a petrol car run on diesel. Hmmmmm, I wonder.

Potterton White Rogers Gas Valve replacement

It'll be a netaheat profile if its got a white rogers gas valve. I'd say theres plenty of life in the old dog yet. "Potential killer" ? Good reliable boilers if maintained properly.

Potterton White Rogers Gas Valve replacement

Round our neck of the woods it would be approx. half of his revised quote. Seems rather steep to me.

    Glowworm Ultimate 50 Boiler (LPG)

The UPSO should reset itself on a 4 bottle change over valve. Almost guarantee the pilot injector will be blocked/clogged. Like ollski said, LPG is not the cleanest of gasses and can block the two pilot injector holes pretty easily.

Unsafe situations and dealing with customers

Dont work on many, but like you say, the parts are generally very expensive. Forgot to mention it was LPG bulk storage and posh was reluctant to reveal his supplier.

Unsafe situations and dealing with customers

Went to an external flueless pool boiler to tighten a thermocouple nut on the gas valve. Posh blokes chippy was just finishing off a new wooden enclosure to protect the boiler from the elements. When the enclosure, looking a bit like an old fashioned coal bunker, was in place it totally...

    Rayburning question!

Oilman seems pretty anonymous to me.

Ideal Response 120 - Hard to work on.

Sounds like this bloke is not being entirely truthfull. If you only did what you say then there is no reason why his boiler should behave any differently than before you touched it. Just remember that these boilers require alot of water flow to activate the DHW flow switch and have a cr*p...

    Installing Flueless Gas Fire

Oh yeah, the one in Wales. What did it do, go out of control and pull a blade? Thats what I heard. Gas appliances are all potentialy lethal if you go by your way of thinking. These things do not employ witchcraft or any kind of alien technology. They do the job they are meant to do if...

    Installing Flueless Gas Fire

Alot of people seem scared of flueless gas fires. The truth is that if the manufacturers instructions are followed then the fire is no more "dangerous" than any other gas appliance. We fit and maintain alot of Burley fluless gas fires and have not had any situations that have caused any...

    jaguar23kw combi prob

Sounds to me like a pcb problem mate. Potterton Profiles give the exact same fault and the pcb turns out to be the culprit every time. Never found this on a Jaguar before but the pcb would be favourite for me.
