Hive door sensors are quite small and you are notified via phone app. You need a Hive Hub though so could be costly unless you plan on upgrading your heating etc too

ok, cool. As another poster has said your HWT needs to be up to scratch too. No point having a larger CWT if your hot water then runs out :)

Well.... if you're replacing the HWT then you might as well go unvented, get rid of the CWT in the loft altogether and replace your power shower / pump with a standard thermostatic mixer ?. A bit more expensive but a better solution IMO. Just an idea.

Theres also a power cable in the wall behind the rad. This is not very clever, in fact quite dangerous. Where does it run to ? a light switch ?

Soundproof plasterboard is only part of the solution if you need to reduce noise transmission between rooms. Its not actually "soundproof" but "sound reducing" and alone it is not very effective. I would put rockwool RW3 between the floor joists as a minimum and maybe consider double boarding...

Just live with it. My house is 1820s and I too had damp patches when I took up the quarry tiles which dried out very quickly. I simply put a cheap vapour barrier down before the laminate. 2 years on and no issues.

Will you get the improvement that you need though ?. I am assuming you didnt go unvented because the mains pressure was poor. However, you are where you are. I would put in a twin impleller pump to service all the points that use stored hot or cold water.

ok, registered for warranty but didnt get any BC certificate. Looks like another plumber on the scrap heap ffs. I guess I should get a proper G3 plumber in to check it all over and get it registered ?

You say pressure is still not great. Did you increase the size of these just to improve pressure ? or for another reason ?

OK, this is what he did for us :- Pressurised the heating system Replaced our vented system with an unvented cylinder Apart from the smell all seems to be working well without issue. Just a thought - was we supposed to receive a certificate of some kind ?

It said G3 on his card and it was in date. Not good either way.
