Party wall dispute with neighbor - what are my rights here

I would inform their estate agents that there is an ongoing dispute with the neighbours and that they should be informing all prospective buyers. I bet that gets the ball rolling.

Bare old floorboards - easiest way to treat / protect them

Hello, We are in the midst of renovating a room and have pulled the carpet up and the old pine floorboards look quite nice but the wood has never been treated and needs some kind of protection. We dont want to change the colour and would ideally like to treat it with a single coat of something...

    Smart sensor for baby gate

Hive door sensors are quite small and you are notified via phone app. You need a Hive Hub though so could be costly unless you plan on upgrading your heating etc too

    Replacement cold water tank

ok, cool. As another poster has said your HWT needs to be up to scratch too. No point having a larger CWT if your hot water then runs out :)

    Replacement cold water tank

Well.... if you're replacing the HWT then you might as well go unvented, get rid of the CWT in the loft altogether and replace your power shower / pump with a standard thermostatic mixer ?. A bit more expensive but a better solution IMO. Just an idea.

how to patch loose plaster (falling off)

Theres also a power cable in the wall behind the rad. This is not very clever, in fact quite dangerous. Where does it run to ? a light switch ?

    Soundbloc plasterboard

Soundproof plasterboard is only part of the solution if you need to reduce noise transmission between rooms. Its not actually "soundproof" but "sound reducing" and alone it is not very effective. I would put rockwool RW3 between the floor joists as a minimum and maybe consider double boarding...

Bathroom paint keeps cracking and won't adhere next to shower

I replied in a similar way to your other post. This is a groundfloor room and thus you may have existing / historical damp in the wall which will result in your bricks & plaster being "infected" with salts. The only way to cure this is to take it back to brick and use plaster treated with damp /...

Damp patches on kitchen concrete floor

Just live with it. My house is 1820s and I too had damp patches when I took up the quarry tiles which dried out very quickly. I simply put a cheap vapour barrier down before the laminate. 2 years on and no issues.

Raising water tank in the loft

Will you get the improvement that you need though ?. I am assuming you didnt go unvented because the mains pressure was poor. However, you are where you are. I would put in a twin impleller pump to service all the points that use stored hot or cold water.

Unvented pressure release into sink waste pipe - smelly

However, is not true that if the plumber is G3 then BC is not required ?

Unvented pressure release into sink waste pipe - smelly

ok, registered for warranty but didnt get any BC certificate. Looks like another plumber on the scrap heap ffs. I guess I should get a proper G3 plumber in to check it all over and get it registered ?

Raising water tank in the loft

You say pressure is still not great. Did you increase the size of these just to improve pressure ? or for another reason ?

Unvented pressure release into sink waste pipe - smelly

OK, this is what he did for us :- Pressurised the heating system Replaced our vented system with an unvented cylinder Apart from the smell all seems to be working well without issue. Just a thought - was we supposed to receive a certificate of some kind ?

Unvented pressure release into sink waste pipe - smelly
