Securing a safe to partition wall

I'm sure we could come to some arrangement over the split of valuables - after all, it spreads the risk over multiple sites..... I doubt the safe is a decent spec, so probably a few mm of steel to drill though. Most branded safes have the option, as standard, of base or rear mounting - so...

Securing a safe to partition wall

As said above, if you cannot secure it properly, then there is little point in having one fitted. One option you may want to consider is drilling through the base plate and fixing into the joists. Another option would be to send me the valuables, and I'll put them in my safe

Upvc French Window - Key Snapped Off In Lock. HELP!

lots of designs and makes/models, but just choose one that is designed for your application - eg if your door is a tilt & slide, then select an handle that is designed for this. Check the spindle size and length (you may have to shorten this with a hacksaw), and also check your screw centres.

Upvc French Window - Key Snapped Off In Lock. HELP!

If I was you, I'd be looking to buy a replacement handle - shouldn't cost more than £15-£20 depending on model. You've already removed the broken one, so fitting the replacement will be easy.

Upvc French Window - Key Snapped Off In Lock. HELP!

Without a key extractor - I'd say you haven't a chance. Do you have a spare key even if the broken section is removed? If you don't want to call a locksmith, look on the internet for a replacement handle and swap it out.

Night Latch Door Lock = left hand or right hand?

All the internal cylinder does is deadlock the handle, so it cannot be moved, and therefore it cannot retract the latch bolt. These locks are not handed, and are designed for either left/right handed installation. Either it's been fitted incorrectly, or the user cannot operate it correctly.

Night Latch Door Lock = left hand or right hand?

Deadlocking should be via the internal key (in the handle), not by moving the handle - otherwise anyone could release the deadlock by breaking a glass panel and reaching through. This leaves the handle to retract the bolt by either an up/down movement. I'm having trouble seeing how you're...

What lock is this ?? .........

Can't recall having come across one of these - it would help if you could remove the handles and photograph the mechanism behind - ie where the handle fits to the door. It looks a bit like an Adams Rite or Assa setup, but seeing the mechanism may help identify it.

    Fire Door Regulations

You're entitled to your privacy. So long as the door security (on your door) allows exit without keys, then there shouldn't be an issue with fire safety. Suggest you go back to your landlord/agent, and ask them to show you the paperwork that states these doors cannot have locks on them.

    curtain picks

You'll need a trade account at the majority of locksmith outlets to buy these, however there are internet sites that don't seem to bothered about who they sell to. Buying is easy - learning to use them is the difficult part. If your serious about learning, then I'd suggest you get on a non...

WMS Key stuck in lock............how can i remove it?

If the PM is regarding snapping the Euro, then there is no need to do this. Simply put the unbroken key in the other side of the lock, and using a screwdriver (or similar) orientate the keyway with the broken section in it so that it's vertical - same way up as the unbroken key. Then push the...

Changing the barrel lock in a upvc double glazing door

Definately your frame keeps that are not alligned with the mechanism. Best to take them all off, and then replace one-by-one until you find the one that is binding - then adjust its position to fit. You may also be able to see the marks on the keep where the mechanism has been rubbing...

Not sure where to place this - so mods feel free to move it if appropriate. I've a SKY+ box that I need to power off and move while I'm having some plastering work done. Does anyone know if the recorded programs and planner details will be lost if the unit is unplugged for any extended...

    Locksmith Course?

Too much competition, and not enough work unless you are big enough to secure contracts with councils/hospitals/banks etc. Tell your mate he's better off looking elsewhere.

How can I lock my UPVC window without a key?

The cylinders used in these locking handles use common keys, so a locksmith should be able to identify the required key and obtain a set for you. Either take the handle into a locksmith, or pay to have one come out to you. Cheaper than buying/fitting replacement handles or limiters - unless...
