    faulty mitre

I've mentioned before that I need some new glasses; I read mitre saw instead of mitre square. I do spend a bit on tools and sometimes don't use them to justify the cost, but it's only me and the dog, so no woman to say 'How much!' :) Good result though Ish, nice one.

What to use to prevent condensation in outside garage

Masona: Sorry I obviously didn't make that comment clear. I didn't mean double glaze this garage, I was making a general comment about stopping warm moist air coming into contact with a cold surface. It's a fact that anything made of steel will go rusty in a shed or pre-fab garage like this...

What to use to prevent condensation in outside garage

breezer said: That's not really true. Condensation occurs when the air cools below the dew point. By adding insulation to the cold surface reduces the possibility, which is why double-glazing is effective. Agreed that if you have ventilation then you can replace the air with colder air which...

    faulty mitre

Ish, this is the reality; quality costs. If you are using one of these(and I've used one): You should be using one of these(and I've got one similar but the dw712):

    Dyson DC04

That's good stuff Geo, so you need this special tool then? I've got one of those after trying to open a tin of paint with a cheap screwdriver. All I need now is a Dyson. :)

    Chipboard flooring in bathroom

I've got the water resistant chipboard on all floors and it's definitely ok in bathroom and kitchen. It doesn't absorb water and swell up like the ordinary stuff.

    Getting inside the drum

Acchillo, (if you're still reading this discussion about girl's knickers  ) if the heater looks like my pic you slacken the centre nut then tap it in slightly to release the compression of the rubber seal. You can then ease the heater out. All the machines I have worked on used this type...

    Getting inside the drum

breezer said: Never mind socks we're talking girl's knickers here mate. :) Rip off the customer again then? Seriously, if it's a coin got between the drum and outer I've often found it finds it's way to the pump anyway.

    Getting inside the drum

I know you're the expert on Hotpoint breezer but I am talking from experience here. Removing the heater allows you to retrieve girl's knickers very easily using a coat hanger. I don't give advice if I've never done the job but I've retrieved many pairs of knickers(not mine by the way) from the...

    Getting inside the drum

No idea for your machine but near bottom of drum and usually at back. If you can see one of these you've found it.

I've got stuff out by removing the heater element.

Propping a rubble wall for lintel?

That's interesting to me George, so if you can post any pics as the job progresses it would be good to see it. As I said, I've got no experience of stone so I might learn something myself.

    Burgler

This isn't about what we would like to do to them; it's about what we can get away with. It has now been officially stated that you can sleep with a loaded shotgun by your bed and blast them; have a knife under the pillow and stab them or smash their skull in with a pick-axe handle. You must...

Propping a rubble wall for lintel?

That's a good diagram George and an interesting idea. I've got a lot of brickwork experience but no experience of working with stone although I did find this link. The guy wants to make a hole in a stone wall and the recommendation is to make a series of holes and pass 4×4 needles through. This...

    cavity wall insulation

The bridging of the cavity was caused by a build up of mortar on the wall ties. The original insulation used was UF foam and when it surrounded the wall tie the moisture could not evaporate into the cavity so could be transferred across to the inner wall. I had a house injected with that awful...
