Plasterer's bucket and Mixing drill + Whisk

I think what is encouraging is that many of us admit to making a cock-up of something but learn from it. Have a bit of confidence and you're half-way there.

Plasterer's bucket and Mixing drill + Whisk

Panja, if you can use tools you can master almost any job. If you look at George's first post here you will appreciate that he is too ambitious but JerryD made a good comment. George has probably not understood that the wall can suck the moisture away from the plaster before he can work it. My...

    Renault Extra diesel head.

Ok, I thought it was all the same firm. I would be surprised if any diesel engine didn't get valve contact with piston if cambelt breaks. A compression ratio of at least 20:1 means very little clearance volume. I wouldn't buy the engine without the head off first.

    Renault Extra diesel head.

Is that the same engine as the Peugeot 1.9? I've repaired one of those when the cambelt snapped. It also snapped the camshaft and centre cap when the valve hit the piston, bending one valve. The good thing is the valves are not inclined so hit square and didn't damage piston.

Good stuff legs, but you're a professional and George is a beginner; read his first post here. He shouldn't be mixing up that amount of finish so that's why I referred to the 20litre bucket. I do my own plastering, and do a good job but I'm not doing it every day so on my own I find a 5m x 2.5m...

The wizard may be genuine and doing a PhD. There are people who go to uni and get a degree followed by a short time in employment. They really can't cope with the real world so go back to uni to do a worthless PhD. The wizard may intend sending his stuff to the ODPM but it doesn't mean it was...

alarm to protect car parking area

There's been a thread on 'electrocute the burglar' and the general opinion was don't. How about using the mains to power PIR floodlights?

Plasterer's bucket and Mixing drill + Whisk

If you're mixing 40kg you need a tin bath really. After trying various types of plaster, I use a sand/cement render with a Thistle skim coat. Obviously I use my concrete mixer for the render coat but for the skim I use a plastic bucket. I see from your first post that you used to be a chef so...

suddenly no cold water in kitchen mixer tap?

Ok, just checking you were sure about system; you may have just moved in. It sounds like you do have a combination boiler then, so water is heated as required. Does sound like tap problem then. (I'm not an expert in anything either)

Is the hot from a combi then?

suddenly no cold water in kitchen mixer tap?

The kitchen sink tap will be from incoming water main but bathroom probably supplied from tank in loft. Check with neighbours to see if mains is off. Have you paid your water rates?
