    Convert dimmer to on/off only

Hi. I'm doing the same but needing to replace 2 of a 3 gang switch of 2 way dimmer modules with on-off only. Is the TLC module universal and 2 way? Does anyone know, else any other ideas for how to do this? Thanks Roy

Ideas on how to trace a live earth wire?

Sorry, yes. Not a neutral. In order to deduce whether the earth is truly live, and connected to the live, then unless it is connected to another live wire it does not give the same reading as the actual live to the return (previously referred to as my neutral). So if I'm not getting the same...

Ideas on how to trace a live earth wire?

Hi. There are 3 cables at the switch, live, neutral and an unconnected earth that looks live and isn't connected at the other end. Seems this is getting excited by the live wire. If it was actually connected you'd expect the voltage across the switch for Neutral-Live and Earth-Live. But not in...

Ideas on how to trace a live earth wire?

 Well, a false positive it seems to be. Got a multi-tester onto the switch. Neutral to live - switch closed - 220v Neutral to the live earth - nothing. This really means my live is not live. Or is this introducing new neon screwdriver - BANG! and the User's gone. Am I losing my...

Ideas on how to trace a live earth wire?

Just a neon screwdriver on the metal. Just managed to get into the ceiling rose via the hole for the light and found the other end not connected but also live. Seems like somewhere in between the ends someone has probably put a nail or screw through the cable and joined the live and earth...

The switch on the ground floor outside of the downstairs toilet. So somehow I need to trace this live earth...

Dig out fireplace hearth or not?

Hi. We've moved into a house last year and found that the previous occupants had kindly covered up a serious dry rot problem in one room. Got it sorted but the problem was the fireplace hearth wicking up water to the old untreated, gone through rot joists. I dug out the hearth and made good by...

    Joining 4x2 and 100mm joists

thanks gregers. I've actually just finished rebuilding it all with a few new walls and wooden caps/(plates?) on them. the DPC is a good idea. I only need a couple of mm max. What do you think would be the best way to attach dpc? staple gun? or is there a special adhesive. Cheers

    Joining 4x2 and 100mm joists

Hi. Hope a few of you might be able to help me. I've had to remove three quarters of a floor built with 4x2 joists, including the joists. There are several dwarf wall across the span and I've removed the floor and joists up to one wall. I intend to joist up some 4x2 joists to match but joists...
