    New wired Alarm system

An example of a home assistant card with keypad and zone status on a Honeywell Galaxy with VMOD fitted. Home Assistant interacts with the VMOD via MQTT giving full keypad control, zone and system status.

    New wired Alarm system

You can update by swapping the control panel with a Galaxy Flex or Dimension version. Both these panels will be compatible with your existing keypads, sounders and sensors and will give detailed event notifications in the event the system gives any sort of alert. You can add the SelfMon VMOD...

    Honeywell Galaxy 2-44 Replacement Keypad

If you can pull the plug off the old keypad, then you can do with it powered up. The plug is really tight, so you need to hold at each side and prise it off with your fingers. If you do need to power off and remove the battery, the G2 retains its settings apart from time and date which are easy...

    Honeywell Galaxy 2-44 Replacement Keypad

Ensure the new keypad rotary address selector is in the same position as the original keypad. If it is, then you can switch devices easily. The black screw connector on the keypads actually pulls from the board (it's on pins). This means that you can unplug the connector and switch keypads...

    Galaxy Flex extension speaker

Just leave that setting as horn. It will do exit tones and other tones. It's usually a bit too loud for domestic though. The other DC setting is in menu 51 I think. I haven't got the manual handy.

    Galaxy Flex extension speaker

If you measure DC voltage with your meter between +12v and OP3 you should get a few volts output reading when the exit timer is counting down

    Galaxy Flex extension speaker

Don't set OP3 to DC. It needs set as speaker. Setting to DC and connecting to a speaker will blow the speaker with a constant 12v.

    Galaxy Flex extension speaker

The speaker should be wired between +12v on one terminal and OP3 on the other. The OP3 is configured to pulse 12v to give speaker tones. The RIOs can't be configured this way, so it needs to be OP3 on the panel. If you extend the speaker wire from OP3 it's best to be a separate cable as any...

    DT8M Wireless PIR Problem

The detector will go into walk test for 10 minutes after battery insertion. It then goes into energy saving mode where it will trigger and then back off for three minutes before re-triggering. The LED will light upon re-triggering except where the DIP switch is set to disable the LED. The sensor...

    Ademco Galaxy G2-44 with Selfmon

The G2 doesn't have set timers, but if you have the SelfMon VMOD and home assistant or node red, you could set something up to set at a particular time. The Dimension and Flex panels have setting schedules, so the panels can be configured to autoset natively.

replacing scantronic 9600 with galaxy 48

Ensure the keypad has clicked fully home. If the backplate has been overtightened, the backplate will warp and not depress the tamper button switch on the back of the PCB. There is an option to fit a pan headed screw in the backplate to depress the switch. Please see this in the manual. Which...

Yes each zone is fully programmable. Just set the zone resistance to NC for that zone.

replacing scantronic 9600 with galaxy 48

The way I normally configure for domestic is for the speaker (99) output as strobe or siren and use the keypad for entry / exit / chime tones - setting each keypad volume to suit. You really don't want the speaker doing chimes when someone comes home from a night out and others are in their...

replacing scantronic 9600 with galaxy 48

There's full set and part set as standard. After that, you can assign groups and have a codes that set two groups and codes that set one area. Or you can have single codes that has the choice of selecting the group to set. Many ways to achieve the same thing. Things can soon get complex.

replacing scantronic 9600 with galaxy 48

It's worth getting the latest with all the bug fixes. Firmware 6.9X goes back 10 years. If you fit on Wednesday, you can always plug in the SPI key later and save the config to the key, flash the firmware using the key, then restore the saved config.

replacing scantronic 9600 with galaxy 48

The Dimension panel will have Galaxy 48 on the label. The older G3 has 3-48. To update with an SPI key, you just plug in the pre-loaded key to the panel connector and use menu 71 to load the new firmware file. The SPI keys are available on eBay for around £30. You can also use the key to...

replacing scantronic 9600 with galaxy 48

I would do it properly and split the devices one per zone. RIOs are cheap. Also, assuming it's a Dimension 48 and not the obsolete G3-48. Ensure the Dimension is at the latest 7.04 firmware which has been stable for years now. If not, the PCB can be updated by SPI key (£30) or serial lead.
