    testing pipes for flow

Is this rad one made of columns? Some designs have an internal diffuser to force water through all the columns. That is why you need the flow to be on the correct side. Some designs are so stupid that they don't even mention this on the instructions AND there is no obvious top or bottom.

    Central Heating inhibitor help

As much as you like. Although there is a sound argument for not needing any if the system is designed properly. Now. How many worms are going to pop out of that particular worm?

    Hitachi or Bosch

Had two large Bosch drills die on me in 4 yours. Both is a loud, smelly, blue puff of smoke. The second one I couldn't actually moan about as it was core drilling a damp thick wall well beyond its capacity - and a DeWALT went a similar way a year later. Currently have a drill for every...

    Socket adpaters - 1/4" up to 1/2"

I have a large torque wrench, but it doesn't go to a low enough setting for what I need. Space is also a little bit of an issue for some little jobs I need it for. Otherwise I agree. Now I need to find somewhere local that can calibrate them for me for a reasonable fee.

    Gurgling boiler

The return is the preferred location, but if not possible, the flow is OK as long as it is AFTER the vent - so you should be OK.

    Cleaning a new CH system

Not a good idea pushing open ended pipes through crawl spaces - a bit of tape over the end too much to ask? Give the system a blast through with mains water for now. If you don't want to include the rads, simply blast each run through into a bucket from the valve. Or alternatively joining...

Passing diverter/zone valve. Incorrectly piped system. With the information given you are lucky to get that.

Improving Energy efficientcy of old boiler

If he adds a DU145 (for example), then the energy wasted is minimised as the by-pass only opens when needed and thus any rads not required can safely be turned down or off. Saving that energy. The iTemp valves are also rather effective, although not sure if the batteries offset the savings.

    Gurgling boiler

Are there no air vents above the boiler? if not then leave to for a whilse and see if it vents naturally through the open vent.

    Gurgling boiler

Sounds like air in the boiler. Would be nice to get rid of it.
