    TRV's top or bottom?

    AAHH the follies of youth.

    What would YOU recommend?

Intergas/Atmos, Atag, Worcester. In that order of preference. You don't say how much hot water storage you have at the moment. We would normally be looking at a 210/250 unvented cytlinder subject to supply suitability.

    Help!!

In that case you will have to get a plumber/electrician/both round. Could just be the thermostat or the elements in the tank, but you need a multimeter to test them. And if you don't know what one is, then sorry, but you'll just have to get a trustworthy professional in.

    ff240 ideal boiler

Actually waiting for stroppy here to say what the fault is. A boiler is suppose to ignite during a call for heat: Perhaps after a little attitude readjustment/cooling off he can post back with something constructive.

Should the condense pipe have a fall angle

Yes it should, and the angle is in the manual. And if it is outside the thermal envelope of the building it should be a larger size pipe and preferably insulated. Again all in the manual.

Best combi boiler for under £1000 supply only

Well... now you ask... did you check your post before Kevplumb's comment? 8) But yes I am an installer of many Intergas type boilers - and they are probably the best value long term. There are more powerful alternatives from other brands, but if that is not an issue then it is a no brainer.
