Any good problem solvers out there?

Maybe one of your mixer valve taps is passing causing the flow switch to act up. Just a guess have no idea. I would call salamander. Im sure they’ll know :D

Vaillant Horizontal Flue Leaking At joints

While the flue doesn’t seem to have enough fall as long as the analyser readings were/are fine no one is in danger. As far as the leakage on the flu joints, this is a known manufacturers error. I’ve honestly lost count of how many Vaillant installs that I’ve come across with leakage on the flue...

    Repurposing disused gas pipe

I’ve used old gas runs for a cold water supply to the boiler when pressuring heating systems but never for potable water. Suppose you could install a filter tap if your unsure. Just be careful you don’t end up with what’s known as a Jewish shower.

Vaillant Horizontal Flue Leaking At joints

Looking at that picture it’s looks like the plume from the flu has been slowly eating away the cast iron pictured just to the right of the flue

Vaillant Horizontal Flue Leaking At joints

These types of bad installs are to be expected when an inexperienced guy can get a gas safe in a period of 6 months and 3 hours a week at at night school. But I guess that’s another thread.

    Boiler startup noise

is that why it’s good practice to have one bypass radiator fitted with lock shields on a combi fed system. I’d imagine so. Yeah setting up a bypass valve seems to one thing that’s never done correctly. The amount of times I’ve gone to call outs where rads have not been getting hot because of...

    Boiler startup noise

Let’s not forget while a bypass valve is good practice to fit, it only needs one if there is a pump over run. Some boilers While it’s good practice to fit bypass valves, let’s not forget if there is no pump overrun then it doesn’t necessarily need one. Some boilers like for example the new...

    Boiler startup noise

Coil 1. M guessing that means flo I guess so but be honest it’s more than likely the problem at hand. So :p

    Boiler startup noise

I’ve came across zone valves being plumbed in backwards before but always just left them. I had no idea it could cause that kind of noise.

    Wate Immersion Heater

Yeah the hot water outlet of the cylinder is at the top and feeds your hot water taps. Cold water is fed in to the tank from the bottom. As the water is heated it’s rises to the top of the cylinder and as we all know heat rises I believe it’s called water displacement. The one cylinder with one...

Vaillant Horizontal Flue Leaking At joints

First of all how bad is the leakage on the flu? If the boiler is not cutting out and the analyser readings are fine I wouldn’t worry about it to much. If the seals have perished the analyser reading should be off. But 100% get a qualified heating engineer to take a look. I’d prefer if the flu...

Gas tightness test on u40 commercial meter

You see as I just hold a domestic ACS I walked past a huge gas meter and the question sprung to mind. From your answer (however sarcastic it maybe). Obviously there is much more to testing commercial gas meters and gas carcuses. I did not realise the forum rules regarding such questions. I can...

Gas tightness test on u40 commercial meter

Not doing commercial work, just came across a commercial meter and wondered that’s all. As an engineer I ask myself questions like this all the time. If your going to jump to conclusions then your advice or comments are not welcome.

I hate combi boilers you have no argument from me there.

Combi boiler with built in storage tanks

The 29kw in your existing combi boiler will be enough to heat up your radiators. So to save money just cap off the hot water side to your combi. Effectively making it a heat only boiler. No need to throw away a perfectly good boiler. Then purchase an on demand water heater. It will be smaller...

Combi boiler with built in storage tanks

As long as there are two immersion heaters in the cylinder. No good only being able to heat up half a cylinder. He doesn’t want stored hot water though.
