Hive Hot water and Heating advice..

Not sure but I thought when you purchased the Hive it came with a time clock that has a built in stat and a hub. So you’d put the hub where the old clock is and stat/clock where the old stat is.

    Central heating not coming on

I wonder if it’s actually a boiler problem. Maybe PCB?

Combi boiler with built in storage tanks

Yes it is but no way on earth is it going to be able to feed two showers and all the other hot water outlets in his house.

    Central heating not coming on

So if you run your hot water for long periods your heating comes on? If so I heard a while back that some combi boilers do this as a way of disbursing heat out off the boiler to avoid overheating and cutting out. Kind of like a bypass valve.

No offense to the guy but because of the bizarre situation or explanation given it’s very hard to acess the problem without being there to see.

    Hot water but no heating

From what I was to understand from the description the zone valve wasn’t hitting the micro switch until it was manually opened. Then to turn off the heating he changed the zone valve lever back.

    Hot water but no heating

Let’s make this simple. Before you manually opened the CH zone valve you had no heating? So if this is the case you need a new zone valve regardless of what other problems are occurring. Change that and report back if you have anymore problems.

    Hot water but no heating

Ok first of all you must be talking a bout zone valves. You have one for your HW and one for CH. You have manually opened the CH zone valve but only when you turn off the HW is when your radiators get up to the correct temperature?

Combi boiler with built in storage tanks

I doubt any combi boiler can run two showers at the same time. Your gonna need a stored hot water system or a instantaneous water heater. Best bet is to get an engineer to cap off the hot water side to your combi and fit an a water heater that can supply the correct amount of litres to feed all...

    Boiler Flue

It’s just to make it look neat. Probably covering up a messy hole. Best advice is if your unsure about removing it just don’t.

    no pressure in CH system

Sometimes filling loops are not actually by the boiler. If it’s a heat only boiler it’s possible to add a pressure kit to pressurise it. This consists of a filling loop pressure gauge and expansion vessel that’s most likely red. Check other cupboards for a red exp vessel.

    Gas pipes not sleeved. Whoops.
