    Moving radiator

I'd recommend using a compression fitting to connect to the old pipe. Any water around and you'll have trouble soldering.

    Removing masonry paint

Waterproof sealer :? That was one of the reasons I wanted to remove the paint - to let the walls breathe.

    Removing masonry paint

Is there any way to remove masonry paint from the exterior of my house? It's a 30's semi that the previous owner thought would look good painted. They lived here for 20 years and it has had lots of coats in that time. I was thinking sand blasting, but presumably that may damage the brick...

    Letting to students

Hi, I've got a 3 storey victorian terrace house and am thinking of letting it to four students. I currently let another house out to a single occupier and am aware that the regulations are different for houses or multiple occupation. However, could someone point me in the right direction...

Do I need to move existing wiring to comply?

If they are from 1965, then they are 40+ years old  I'm no expert, but surely they are due for replacement anyway??

    Artex......

Be careful when removing artex. Older stuff tends to have asbestos in it!

Advice RE Cabling / Setup for Wedding Marquee

I presume it's only notifiable if you install the ceeform socket? I run an extension lead through my garden from the house all the time (lawnmower etc) and don't inform the LABC.

    Cable route

I need to run some SWA to my detached garage then into a small cu for lights and sockets. Does the cable need to be under ground, or can it be overhead? The distance from house to garage is about 2m. Cheers

    Double oven

Hi folks, I'm installing a Neff double oven rated 5.1kW @240V. Would a 6mm t&e radial via an oven switch back to the cu on a 32a MCB be OK? The cable will be around 5m long and will be burried into the wall for 2m and between ceiling and upstairs floor for 3m. Thanks.

    Old dial electricity meter

No problem. I was just pointing out that although it's a new meter, it's still not a digital one. The OP was asking if he should get his replaced.

    Old dial electricity meter

Ah OK, mine has the big wheel at the bottom and then numbers like a car speedo.

    Old dial electricity meter

I've just had a new meter fitted and it is still a dial type!

How to raise bathroom floor level (1st floor bathroom )??

I did this in my old bathroom. There used to be a step down into the bathroom, so I raised the floor and left the bath on the original floor. The way I did it was to attach some battons to the wall using those bolt things with expanding ends - like you put into a concrete floor. Then, I...

    Bonding a radiator

I need to do some bonding im my bathroom (currently has none) and understand I need to connect to the pipes running to the radiator. Do I connect to both flow and return or just one of them? Also, where is the connection usually made? Does it have to be above floor level or can it be under...

    PME Earth & DP Isolator

They go into the ground outside my back door. Maybe I'll put an axe through one and see which neighbour complains!
