Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

I would really like to know if a rotating pump, as indicated by the rotating knob when unscrewed, can fail to pump? Can the impeller become detached from the shaft, because I am getting very smooth whirring noises now, and no throbbing from the pipework.

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

Yes I can several drain points one for the radiator system and one just below the boiler. I have the sockets for the square drain plugs, so I could try that. So presumably you are expecting 1) Water to come out of the drain plugs in all scenarios 1) The header tank to drop, if I hold the...

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

New summary of my position 1) When the boiler is switched on there is a brief burst of activity and then after about 30 seconds it stops and the outlet pipe becomes warm. The pump continues to make a sound 2) While the boiler comes on there is quite a lot of noise from within the boiler, but...

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

Though looking at the specs, I see the DABs pump is to be used on the return part of the circuit, the CE pump specs doen't mention placement in the circuit. On my system the pump is on the output of the boiler which conforms to the Y plan model as indicated below

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

Well after unscrewing the knob and switching on the HW and CH, nothing happened, no noise was emanating from the pump and the knob turned very very slowly. Then after some prods and pokes, the thing eventually came alive and the knob rotated at a fast speed. But nothing was happening to the...

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

Apparently unscrewing the knob in the centre of the picture of the pump causes it to engage with the drive motor and so it will rotate with the pump motor once the pump is on. So as suggested by 75Pete above I will check this is working...

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

This is my pump a CE CP53. Can I just unscrew the octaganal nut to see the spindle? And if it is rotating, does that definitely mean that it is pumping? Could there be a blockage somewhere? About 6 months ago, the water level in my system dropped because the cistern ballcock got stuck...

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

Thank you Ericmark for that informative post. I was looking at a similar version of the circuit diagram to establish exactly what the micro switches do, and it is not clear.

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

Thank you very much :) I will try that. This throbbing that goes throughout the nearby pipework would suggest it is doing something, but it would seem that is not confirmation enough.

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

Thank you oilhead for that positive suggestion. When you say the actuator, do you mean the motor? Are you aware that these valves, when not powered, should offer resistance to being moved into the manual open position, and that the manual lever should then return of its volition to the auto...

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

Echo the husky Thank you so much for your informative reply. You seem to have absorbed the plethora of information I provided and are obviously well informed on these issues. I have replaced pumps and drained my heating system before, so I would hope I was capable of getting to the bottom of...

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

Thank you very much for providing some relevant information. That is very useful to know. If the boiler is switched on and the pump is on and CH and HW have been selected in the programmer and so the boiler is active, then are you saying that there must be some problem with the flow as if the...

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

Here is the 3 port valve which I believe to be the main problem. The manual lever is visible, and apparently it should offer resistance to being moved when the power is off, it does not, and it does not return to the auto position as it should. Installation instructions...

Honeywell v4073a1039 motorised 3 port valve: should moving lever to manual allow flow?

I have a Honeywell v4073a1039 3 port valve in my heating system and now the hot water and the central heating work intermittently, though banging the valve with my hand seems to bring it back to life, sometimes briefly sometimes until it switches off whereupon on starting again many hours later...

To cut the stair or not?

It was a purely aesthetic piece and served no support function whatsoever and I was able to just saw off the bottom with the special flat cutting saw and fit the floorboards underneath what remained.

To cut the stair or not?

Right, that is helpful, and I think I might agree with you. The skirting-board-like piece of wood which rests upon the block does seem to be for aesthetic purposes too, though it does form part of the door frame for the understairs cupboard and perhaps is used to define the line of the stair...

To cut the stair or not?

Hello, I am laying engineered floor boards on my concrete hall floor and I have a dilemma. I am intending to lay the boards and the cork expansion pieces right up against the walls and other features of the hall as suggested on this forum and elsewhere for the best job possible. I have...

    laying wood flooring under skirting.?

That is a brilliant idea about using a stanley knife to sever the paint from the board. I was staring at the skirting board and cogitating on how firmly the paint was attached to it and thinking that the separation of the board from the wall was going to pull on the paint immediately attached...

    best digital pumped shower?

How much did that all come to? Because that sounds very interesting. I am considering buying an Aqualisa Quartz Digital Exposed pumped shower, they seem to be available at about £470 inclusive and I would love to do it for cheaper. Of course you wouldn't get the boost flow option using a...
