Oil boiler or off peak electric to heat water?

Thanks. Yes, I appreciate the actual useage depends on the load but I was just trying to get the maths roughly right! Interesting to know that 1 litre of oil is the equivalent to 10kwh. If thats the case then 21kwh is just over 2 litres of oil/ hour. RE Off Peak - we have night storage...

Oil boiler or off peak electric to heat water?

Worcester Greenstar Camray 18/25 external oil boiler, 93.2% efficient from the website. I think it uses about 2.33 litres/ hour (from the manual). Current oil price, say £0.60/litre. Off peak electricity is current 6.465 pence/kw. I have a 170litre unvented tank with a 3kw element that...

    Dormer flat roof options

The dormer flat roof is still watertight and i'd like to keep it that way before it's allowing water in.. proactive and not reactive and all that. What are the options? Start again? Overlay the existing in asphalt shingle? Liquid plastic or similar? Other? It's likely to be a DIY job...

Mira SPort Shower - identify this one?

Apologies for the delay... it's a 2006 model with a triangular button. It is worth paying a premium for the 2011 model over the current 2006 one as the 2006 seems to be a lot cheaper? Is the 2011 a simple swap for a 2006? Thanks Stuart

Mira SPort Shower - identify this one?

The button is oval so it looks like its a 1998 onwards but before 2006. It looks just like...

Mira SPort Shower - identify this one?

Thanks for the quick response. Are you saying this model could be from about 1998? We had a new bathroom around 7 years ago so thats when it was replaced. Not sure if it would be a 2006 model. Are the 2011 models the newest ones? Is it a straighforward swap then with regards the pipework?

Mira SPort Shower - identify this one?

Oh, forgot to ask... I was only going to repalce it with the same to make swapping it simple. Is there any other recommended shower out there that would fit in place without casuing damage to the tiles and be a straighforward swap for our plumber? Thanks.

Mira SPort Shower - identify this one?

My electric shower in our holiday rental keeps tripping out and needs replacing. I will probably just replace it with the same. I took a photo of it with the cover off, but forgot to take one with the cover on so I can ask out plumber for a price without him having to go out. Can anyone...

Cylinder thermostat wiring - Wiring Centre

Are you saying that oil might be cheaper than off peak electric?

Cylinder thermostat wiring - Wiring Centre

Thanks Picasso - all understood :D It was a typo when I was referring to CH! Scoobydoo - unvented cylinder heated overnight using off peak electric. Boiler is oil and I think costs more than off peak electric to heat a tank.

Cylinder thermostat wiring - Wiring Centre

Oh, I thought I could just wire the cyclinder stat into my new switch then take a new cable and wire one wire into the CH off, and the other into the CH on where the cylinder stat wires into C, 1 and 2?

Cylinder thermostat wiring - Wiring Centre

Thanks for the diagram. Makes slightly more sense - I think! Only thing is, I have a mid position valve wired in so I assume I need to wire it in to the grey for off and brown for on as opposed to the orange? Here is my wiring centre...

Cylinder thermostat wiring - Wiring Centre

I'll explain more...! The unvented tank is heated overnight wtih off peak electric for hot water. This will use an off peak timer. When guests are here this will supply morning hot water or all day hot water if its not used much- there is an electric shower. If the house is full and more...
