Process for building control to sign of electrical work when doing notifiable electrical work yourself?

I’ve had to pay BC (Ceredigion) a further fee. They’ve appointed their approved contractor who visited to visually check cable runs and installation, and then will do a second visit to test the circuits when connected.

Elon Musk wants to DOGE Trump

This is exactly Trumps character - always has been. I don’t think it’s fitting for any leader of a country, economy or business - but clearly millions of US citizens think otherwise.

    Stock market dealing

Nope, question not answered. There’s a reference to 40 minutes within that wall of text, but no answer to how many hours I might expect to ‘work’ to make my £25. Just a rough idea. Genuinely, good luck to you or anyone else who makes money at it. But throwing it out there as a great way to...

    Stock market dealing

So I start off with my £10k. How many hours do I have to sit at my PC assessing the trading charts to make my £25? Sure, if you’ve got £100k kicking around, then it might be worth it for £250/day, but who’s got that much lying around to take a punt on day trading?

    New Extension Central Heating Query

Has anyone turned all the original rads off, and just run the 4 new ones? If they get red hot then, it’s probably not a connection issue. 30kW should be plenty for an everyday house - the boiler hasn’t had it’s output restricted in the settings or anything silly?

It looks like the National Parks Service costs about £5bn a year and brings in £50bn in economic activity. https://www.doi.gov/sites/default/files/documents/2024-03/fy2025-508-nps-greenbook_2.pdf

(Cavity closure) Is this acceptable to pass building regs (Ed)

My BCO was very happy to see my cavities closed with blockwork in the opening for my patio doors. Just make sure damp proofing & insulation is covered as mentioned above.

party wall act am in deep trouble (Ed.)

Surely the only issue with not following the PWA is that he could claim any future damage to his wall (subsidence) was yours to rectify, if it was proven your work was the cause of the issue? Firstly he’s got to identify an issue with the wall that occured after your work. Then it has to be...

    Why still cavity walls ?

At the very least you’ve got to hack off the render / pull off the cladding on the external reveal to get the old window out. I don’t know if they return the insulation into the reveal as well - possibly to prevent cold bridging

    Trump defamation settlement (Ed.)

Because it’s all about winning cool points on the internet. It’s not about Trump, it’s about being right on the semantics. Trump isn’t a *convicted* rapist; hence my point earlier about needing a comma. Trump isn’t a convicted felon and (convicted) rapist Trump is a convicted felon, and a...

    Trump defamation settlement (Ed.)

I’d be a little surprised as I hope that my attitude to women is considerably more respectful than Trump has shown his to be. Well I’d have as much oppurtinity to give my side of the story to the Jury as the other party. And there’s a strict process for juror selection to ensure a fair trial...

Single storey extension eaves height and planning permission

Once he’d received a copy of my (self certified) build over agreement, my BCO has been similarly relaxed. As long as everything mmets Part H he’s happy. I too pushed my foundations out to be slightly less than 500mm from the manhole, but all he cared about was the foundation depth being below...
